The
Media Council of Kenya is an independent national institution established by
the Media Act, 2007 as the leading institution in the regulation of
media and in the conduct and discipline of journalists.
The
Council seeks to fill the following vacant positions:
Internal Auditor- MCK/VA/1
Overall Purpose of the Position
To review company operations and controls, risk management processes and compliance with
prescribed policies, procedures and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Working
with management to assess institutional risks and developing an audit plan
that considers the results of the risk assessment.
- Evaluation
and verification of final accounts before presentation to the Board of
Directors and act as Secretary to the Board Audit Committee.
- Evaluating
institutional controls to determine their effectiveness and efficiency
(systems audit).
- Special
audit on specific areas out of management requests.
- Evaluating
the budget and assess its overall effectiveness to the organization.
- Coordinating
work with external auditors, for compliance and follow-up on the
implementation of the audit recommendation.
- Determining
the level of compliance with internal policies and procedures and
government regulations.
- Recommending
improvements to controls, operations, and risk mitigation resolutions.
- Performing
management advisory services as requested by the management.
- Coordinate
and conduct the audit of receipts and payments.
- Continually
monitor the effectiveness of internal control systems.
- Make
follow-up of implementation of audit recommendations.
Academic/Professional
Qualifications
- Bachelor
of Commerce degree in Accounting, Business or Finance option.
- Must
have at least CPA (K) or its acceptable equivalent.
- Three
(3) years working experience in a busy audit firm. Experience in a
parastatal or Government body will be an added advantage.
- Be
proficient in any of the automated accounting computer packages such as
pastel, Quick Books, ERP systems (SAP, Navision) etc.
Records Assistant - MCK/VA/2
Responsibilities:
- Classifying
and recording publications to create a sound registry for the Council.
- Assisting
¡n the development of an efficient record keeping for the Council.
- Ensuring
security of files and documents and renewing of the files covers.
- Ensuring
proper handling of documents, pending correspondence and follow ups.
- Receiving
and dispatching letters and maintaining related registers.
- Filling
all Council correspondence appropriately to enable easy retrieval.
- Retrieving
of all files when required.
- Carrying
out records disposal.
- Archiving
all the Council files as necessary.
- File
coding and maintaining an index of all records including archived records.
Academic/Professional
qualifications
Applicants for this position should possess at least:
- A
Higher Diploma in Archives/Records Management! Library Services.
- Two
years of relevant experience.
- Computer
Literacy.
- Knowledge
of an electronic document management system (EDMS) will be a high
advantage.
