The
Pest Control Products Board, a statutory organization of the Kenyan Government
established under an act of parliament, is charged with the responsibility of
regulating the importation and exportation, manufacture, distribution, sale,
use and disposal of pest control products.
The
Board seeks to fill the following vacant positions with qualified individuals;

Duties
and responsibilities
An
officer at this level will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:
- Evaluating
efficacy trial reports, physical chemical and toxicological reports;
- Evaluating
pesticide labels and preliminary dossiers;
- Carrying
out efficacy trials on pesticides ;
- Carrying
out completeness checks on technical dossiers;
- Verifying
of imports/ exports applications;
- Updating
registration database.
Requirements
for appointment
- A
Bachelor of Science degree in either of the following disciplines:
Agriculture, Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Bachelor of Veterinary
Medicine or any other relevant qualification from a recognized
institution;
- a
Master’s degree in any of the following fields:- Chemistry, Environmental
Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or any other relevant qualification from a
recognized institution;
- Have
served as a Pesticide Registration Officer II or a comparable and relevant
position for a minimum period of three (3) years in a reputable
organization;
- Be
proficient in computer applications.
Chief Pesticide Registration Officer

Duties
and responsibilities
An
officer at this level will undertake the following duties and responsibilities
- Evaluating
of technical data for registration of products;
- Developing
and implementing guidelines and procedures for registration;
- Monitoring
of efficacy, physical chemical properties and toxicological trials;
- Approving
labels, packaging materials and advertisements;
- Developing
and implementing programs;
- Keeping
and updating the List of Registered Pesticides.
Requirements
for appointment
- A
Master’s degree with specialization in any of the following fields: -
Plant Pathology, Crop Protection, Environmental Chemistry, Analytical
chemistry, Toxicology, Entomology, Weed Science, Bio-chemistry or any
other relevant discipline;
- Strategic
management course lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized
institution;
- Have
served as a Senior Pesticide Registration Officer or a comparable and
relevant position for a minimum period of three (3) years in a reputable
organization;
- Be
proficient in computer applications.
Pesticide Inspector II

Duties
and responsibilities
An
officer at this level will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:
- Undertake
inspection for pesticide quality and their suitability;
- Processing
of imports and exports permits;
- Undertake
certifying of Pesticides through the supply chain from manufacture to use
approved and registered;
- Sampling
of pesticides;
- Preparing
field inspection reports and premises licence;
- Certifying
of pesticides at ports of entry.

- Bachelor
of Science degree in any of the following disciplines: Agriculture,
Environmental Chemistry, Chemistry, relevant Biological Sciences, or any
other relevant qualification from a recognized institution; and
- Be

Senior Pesticide Inspector

Duties
and responsibilities
An
officer at this level will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:
- Undertaking
inspection and quality assurance of pesticides;
- Ensuring
product certification;
- Undertake
conformity assessment;
- Coordinating
pesticide waste disposal;
- Supervise
pesticide disposal in high temperature incinerators;
- Undertake
field extension in liaison with other stakeholders;
- Compiling
and disseminating of technical information on pesticides.
Requirements
for appointment
- A
Master’s degree in any of the following fields:- Agriculture, Plant
Pathology, Crop Protection, Environmental Health, Environmental Chemistry,
Livestock production, Analytical chemistry, Toxicology, Entomology, Weed
Science, Bio-chemistry, Veterinary Medicine
- A
management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized
institution; and
- Environmental
Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks
- Served
as a Pesticide Inspector I or a comparable and relevant position for a
minimum period of three (3) years in a reputable organization;
- Posses
knowledge in manufacturing, storage, sale and distribution of pest control
products;
- Be
proficient in computer applications.

Duties
and responsibilities
An
officer at this level will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:
- Monitoring
of safe use and disposal of pesticides;
- Conformity
assessment of premises, firms and businesses dealing with pesticides
products;
- Disseminating
of information on pesticides to stakeholders and general public;
- Training
dealers of pesticides and pest control operators;
- Developing
of technical training and disposal guidelines and standards;
- Communicating
topical pesticide information in the media to the public.
Requirements
for appointment
- A
Bachelor of Science degree in any of the following disciplines:
Agriculture, Environmental Chemistry, Chemistry, relevant Biological
Sciences, or any other relevant qualification from a recognized
institution;
- A
Master’s degree in any of the following fields:- Plant Pathology, Crop

Assistant Human Resource Manager

Duties
and Responsibilities
An
officer at this level will undertake the following duties and responsibilities
- Coordinating
and controlling of the functions and operations in the Human Resource
unit;
- Ensuring
adherence to Human Resource policies, rules, regulations, standards and
procedures governing terms and conditions of service;
- Advising
on administration of the Career Progression Guidelines and progressions.
- Planning,
coordinating and directing of Human resource services in the Board in such
areas as recruitment and promotion, compliment control,
placement/deployment, staff development, employee relations, remuneration
and staff welfare;
Requirements
for appointment
- A
Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Human Resource
Management/Personnel Management/Business Administration/Industrial
Relations/Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management;
- A
Master’s degree in Social Sciences or any other related and equivalent
qualification from a recognized Institution;
- attended
a Strategic Management course lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a
recognized Institution;
- Have
served as a Chief Human Resource Management Officer or a comparable and
relevant position for a minimum period of three (3) years in a reputable
organization;
- be
conversant with Human Resource Policies, legislation and procedures;
- Be
a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM);
- Be
proficient in computer applications.
