Position: Supply Chain Manager
The Organisation: Our client is a multinational organisation, headquartered in Europe and with operations across Europe, Americas, Asia Pacific, Middle East, India and Africa.
The organisation manufactures, sells and distributes decorative paints and performance coatings, for both interior and exterior purposes.
Job Purpose: Reporting to the Country Manager, this role is responsible for managing the Supply Chain functions locally, by coordinating and directing the Supply Chain and logistics activities.
Improve the supply chain so that the market can be served effectively in terms of delivery time and performance, cost and asset utilisation based on the organisation’s HSE principles.
Additionally manage import and export of Finished goods in accordance with local rules and regulations
Departmental Responsibility: The position has personnel responsibility for the Supply Chain department in accordance with the valid organization chart.
This entails clarifying the understanding of roles, objectives, work tasks and results, deviations and any applicable laws and regulations in terms of distribution of finished goods in markets where the organisation operates.
The position is responsible for being familiar with/obtaining necessary guidance concerning relevant laws, regulations and guidelines appertaining to personnel responsibility and the contents of ‘Your responsibility as a manager’.

- Responsible for ensuring that all local purchasing prices are negotiated at most competitive prices in order to increase the organisation’s competitiveness in the market.
- Recruit and manage the supply chain personnel by leading, monitoring and evaluating their activities towards the organisation’s strategic focus and direction.
- Responsible for continual improvement and prevention of controllable and unacceptable impacts on health, safety and the environment (HSE). This will be achieved by implementing corrective and preventive actions based on the identified health and safety risks and environmental impacts. He/she is accountable for implementing HSE objectives and targets within his given area.
- Develop the most efficient sourcing plan based on a combination of cost, lead time and product assortment for the organisation.
- Ensure continuous improvement of the supply chain structure by supporting and improving information flow across functional units and towards group functions to improve delivery service.
- Implement procedures, document and follow up when necessary to align the supply chain flow with the organisation’s worldwide network, in close cooperation with Regional Purchasing and Regional Supply Chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and take active part in the improvement of the supply chain in Kenya.
- Maintain and distribute relevant Supply Chain KPI’s on a regular basis.
- Use existing and new data systems to support the improvement of the order fulfillment.
- Implement and improve procedures for the Supply Chain area according to group standards.
- Manage and plan import operations including orders and customs procedures.
- Control cost of all purchased materials by optimizing the supply chain.
- Implement all HSE norms and procedures in the warehouse.
- Ensure a continuous supply from production sites to maintain the required stock.
- Ensure all local procedures for stock keeping are applied and followed.
- Establish necessary contracts with freight forwarders for inbound and outbound supplies
- Manage, develop and evaluate the warehouse personnel.
- Provide Monthly progress reports and follow up of KPI’s to Country Manager
- Communicate efficiently and effectively with internal / external stakeholders
- Ensure seamless coordination with customer service and logistics to plan and deliver products to customers in the most efficient and economical method
Education & Experience
- A Bachelors degree preferably in a business related discipline.
- Four to Six (4-6) years of experience in Supply Chain/Logistics management in a similar position or industry.
- Knowledge and experience of Information Technology systems is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with ERP systems is essential.
