Reporting to the Chief Officer in-charge infrastructure at the County, the officer will be responsible for the following:-
Duties and Responsibilities
- Efficient organization, management and administration of the roads and public works department
- Direction, control and co-ordination of the operations of the department
- Planning, design, construction and maintenance of roads, aerodromes/airstrips and allied structural works.
- Formulation of policy and development of standards of roads
- Provision of technical advise and assistance to clients
- Allocation of duties and supervision of staff carrying out repairs and alteration of existing buildings/wards
- Preparation of cost estimate and schedule of materials
- Control of usage materials on site
- Assist in the preparation of specifications, contract of documents and estimates for building, civil, electrical or mechanical engineering works
Requirements for Appointment
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Be an engineering graduate from a recognised institution with a minimum of 15 years experience in the field.
- A post graduate degree in project management will be an added advantage.
- Registration with Engineers Registration Board of Kenya (ERB) will be an added advantage.
- Must have served in the position of JG ‘Q’ for at least 3 years or must have served in senior management positions in a construction management for at least 3 years.
- Must have wide experience and demonstrated competence and high administrative ability required for management and administration of the Public Works Department and good public relations to deal with various donor agencies.
- A current valid practicing licence from the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya will be an added advantage.
- Satisfy the requirement of chapter six (6) of the Constitution.
