The EABC, the regional apex body for private sector associations and corporate members, was founded in 1997 and now has 147 members.

EABC’s vision is to be an effective change agent fostering an enabling business environment leading to competitive, export-led, integrated and sustainable economies in East Africa.

EABC has positioned itself as a privileged policy dialogue partner and now aims to build on its achievements.

Towards this end, from March 2011, EABC begun implementing a 4 year Project supported by African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF); under the project “Deepening private sector participation in East African’s Economic Integration Process”.

The overall objective of the project is to support EABC to promote and influence creation of competitive business environment in the region.

To achieve the objectives, EABC would like to fill the following vacant position to be based at EABC Offices in Arusha, Tanzania.

Policy Analyst

Role and Responsibilities

Under the overall guidance of the Executive Director and reporting to the Program Manager, the Policy Analyst will have the overall responsibility of analysing EAC and other relevant policies as well as preparing position papers for presentation to policy makers during policy dialogue.

Requirements:
·       A Master Degree or a PhD in Economics; Policy Analysis; Social Sciences; International Trade Law or any other relevant field. A first degree in combination with five years and above qualifying experience will be considered in lieu of the advanced degree.
·       A minimum of three years of progressive experience in policy research and analysis working with member based organization; civil society and other advocacy group. Knowledge of the EAC regional integration process and private sector priorities are key assets.
·       Policy analysis is a key competence compounded with policy research and strong analytical skills.
·       Preparation of analytical papers and policy position papers is a must.
·       Good English written and spoken communication skills.
·       Position is open to all East Africans from (Burundi, Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania).
