Mass Communication Department
i) Senior Lecturer
Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in the relevant field from a recognized university.
In addition the applicant must:
· Have at least Six (6)
years of University teaching, three (3) of which as a full–time Lecturer after
PhD degree qualification.
· Show evidence of
continuing research including having published at least four (4) articles in
refereed journals since being appointed Lecturer.
· Show evidence of
attendance and contribution at learned Conferences, Seminars or Workshops.
· Show evidence of
active participation in departmental activities and good quality teaching.
· Evidence of success
in some major non-teaching responsibility at the University or other reputable
organizations.
ii) Lecturer
Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in the relevant area from a recognized university

Must have a master’s degree and registered for PhD degree from a recognized academic institution plus at least three (3) years of teaching experience at university level after obtaining a masters degree and at least two (2) publications in referred journal(s).

Must have a master’s degree and registered for PhD degree from a recognized academic institution plus at least three (3) years of teaching experience at university level after obtaining a masters degree and at least two (2) publications in referred journal(s).

· Applicants must be
PhD degree holders in the relevant area having at least eight (8) years of
University teaching, and have served a minimum of three years at the senior
lecturer level or demonstrate comparable professional experience.
· Have five (5)
publications in refereed journals or a book since becoming senior lecturer.
· Demonstrate classroom
skills as evidenced by student evaluations and peer reviews.
· Present evidence of
success in some major non-teaching responsibility at University or other
reputable organizations.
· Have supervised
postgraduate students.

Masters degree in counseling Psychology/Guidance and Counseling, Education
Psychology or related field
· At least 6 years
administrative experience in students’ welfare matters in a University as an
assistant Dean of Students.

Duties and responsibilities:

including guidance, counseling and academic matters.
· Advising the ANU
Student Council on matters concerning its functions.

Library Department
i) Senior Librarian
Applicants should have a PhD with at least three years experience at Librarian Level or Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from a recognized University with least five years experience at Librarian Level in a large Academic Library.
Knowledge of IT as Applied to Library Information Science and teaching Information Literacy Skills will be an added advantage. Applicants should show evidence of Leadership as well as Research and Publication.
ii) Librarian
Applicants should have a PhD. or Masters Degree in Library and Information Science and two years experience at the Level of Assistant Librarian in a large and well Computerized Academic Library and ability to teach Information Literacy Skills.
Evidence of Research and Publication and Professional involvement will be added advantage.
Public Relations and Communications Officer
Qualifications and Experience:
i) Senior Librarian

Public Relations and Communications Officer
Qualifications and Experience:
· Masters degree in
Communications, Public Relations, Media Studies or Journalism.
· 3 years experience as
a Public Relations and Communications Officer in an institution of higher
learning.
Key Competences:
· IT Savvy with a
strong understanding of graphic design, social media, and web management.
· Working knowledge of
mass and new media operations and its proper utilization for dissemination of
information.
· Proven excellent
editorial and writing skills.
· Strong planning,
organizational skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
· Demonstrate strong
interpersonal and communications skills.
· Excellent
presentation skills and having an outgoing personality.
· Ability to work with
minimum supervision, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities.
· Working experience
with a PR/Advertising Agency will be an added advantage.
Main duties and responsibilities:
· Ensure proper
management of all ANU events.
· Increase awareness of
ANU Brand among the public.
· Develop the
University’s external and internal communications strategies that positions ANU
as the University of Choice in the region and beyond.
· Coordinate external
and internal communication activities, the content of the website, intranet and
other internal needs as required.
· Manage university
social sites to ensure they are fully updated with upcoming and ongoing events.
· Keep the university
fraternity updated with interdepartmental news, innovations and developments.
· Coordinate and
maintain excellent relations with the University’s active media network whilst
developing new relations.
· Oversee production of
news and feature stories, publicity materials, press releases, photographs,
videos, and other strategic and targeted communications as required.
· Develop and maintain
in-house editorial standards and ensure the quality of written information in
terms of content and format.
· Supervise the
development and distribution of promotional communications materials for all
University events.
· Manage and coordinate
all advertising activities of the University.
· Plan, organize and
direct Public Relations activities and events that enhance ANU relationship
with various target audience and enhance positive publicity.
· Cultivate a
customer-oriented culture amongst ANU staff by devising and implementing
various awareness creation and capacity building approaches in liaison with the
relevant departments.
· Lead the University’s
commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by developing appropriate
strategy.
· To prepare the
University calendar of events, internal directory and its distribution.
· To handle matters
concerning the official University guests in liaison with concerned
departments.
· Assist in
developing/drafting the Vice Chancellor’s speeches.
· Perform any other
tasks as assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.
