Nuru’s

overall, holistic solutions.
The Education Fellow will partner with the community to carry out the implementation phase of the education program’s new model, which is designed to improve child literacy, with a specific focus on primary school aged children.
The Education Fellow is a member of the Foundation Team and will report to the Foundation Team Leader.
Specific Job Responsibilities Include:
The Education Fellow will partner with the community to carry out the implementation phase of the education program’s new model, which is designed to improve child literacy, with a specific focus on primary school aged children.
The Education Fellow is a member of the Foundation Team and will report to the Foundation Team Leader.
Specific Job Responsibilities Include:
- Work with the rest of the Education Team as well as the Monitoring and Evaluation Team to develop measurement tools (surveys) to assess the impact of Nuru’s education programs on the poverty level of the community
- Continue to refine the Education umbrella model to incorporate lessons learned
- Manage Nuru’s outreach programs and learning center
- Maintain strong communication with the community, Ministry of Education, and schools at all times.
- Manage program budget efficiently to meet pre-determined goals and achieve program goals
- Ensure education programs are truly sustainable and efficient
- Mentor the Kenyan staff to enhance leadership skills and develop better management and communication abilities
Specific
Skills and Attributes (additional to the General Requirements for the Nuru
Fellows Program):
- Bachelor’s degree required
- At least 3 – 5 years of experience in program management and implementation.
- Experience with alternative education approaches and education systems in a developing country strongly preferred.
- Prior experience living and working in a developing country
- Strong commitment to organization’s mission
- Prior success working closely, leading and building relationships with diverse groups of people, including volunteers
- Strong work ethic
- Strong leadership and team building experience as well as demonstrated success managing a team.
- Ability to do crisis management and rapid, innovative problem solving in uncertain environments
