since expanded its programme to Kenya in 2006 and to Ethiopia in 2011.

Position Vacant: Internal Auditor

Main Responsibilities include:
- To confirm and give independent and objective advise in order to ensure continued improvement of a company’s overall performance
- Develop plans, procedures and timelines for the Internal audit and implement them
- Conduct internal audit of financial, HR, logistics/procurement, stock control procedures, asset registers;
- Evaluate existing internal control systems;
- Report on the findings and make recommendations on improving systems and procedures, and follow-up on the implementation;
- Work with the management to ensure that systems are in place to ensure that all major existing and potential risks are identified and analysed on regular basis;
- Determine compliance with policies and procedures of NRC as well with the laws and regulations of the country of operation;
- Work closely the management to review operations ensuring they are in line with overall strategic objectives of the organization;
- Report on the value for money in all the activities of NRC with special regard to economy, efficiency and effectiveness;
- Coordinate coverage with the external auditors, be aware of the areas of concern identified by the external auditors and make recommendations on their improvement and follow up on the implementation of the recommendations;
- Investigate frauds if need arises;
- Conduct any reviews requested by the management, provided such reviews and tasks do not compromise the independence or objectivity of the internal audit function
Required
skills and qualifications:
- Degree in Finance or Accounting and a CPA-K Finalist
- At least 5 years financial experience in public accounting/auditing
- Significant understanding of complex emergencies and crisis contexts
- Strong analytical, written/verbal communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Knowledge of audit procedures, including planning, techniques, test and sampling methods involved in conducting audits
- Knowledge of computerized accounting and auditing record keeping systems
- Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate facts and prepare and present oral and written reports
- To be always updated on developments and changes related to issues of interest for internal audit: legislation changes that may affect the activities of NRC, new auditing techniques and practices, etc
- Fluency in English, both oral and written
- Computer skills
- Ability to adapt to change quickly, multi-task and work unsupervised
- Approximately 50% travel

- In liaison with the Project Managers starting at the project planning stage identify appropriate performance measurement indicators, standards and benchmarks relating to project scope, schedule and quality management and ensure they are factored into all project proposals and log frames
- Implement an effective M&E system and procedures to ensure consistent project quality assurance in all program activities within the NRC Dadaab Area
- Adapt, implement and maintain M&E tools developed for the monitoring of core NRC program activities within the Dadaab Area
- Provide as appropriate, feedback on the field performance of standard M&E tools
- Oversee the systematic and continuous data collection and analysis on the progress of activities over time and monitor results in terms of timeliness, quality, accuracy in line with the logical framework approaches (LFAs) best practice and committed project documents
- Provide technical support to field teams in planning and monitoring of ongoing projects as well as the development of systematic regular and structured M&E exercises
- Compile various periodic internal reports for smooth and timely implementation and accomplishment of planned project activities
- Manage the Area M&E database with each Project’s M&E focal persons, and generate periodic reports for each Project as per the NRC Somalia/Kenya M&E framework and donor partner requirements
- In liaison with the Project Managers build the capacity of project staff through hands-on coaching and event based training to ensure effective implementation of the Area’s M&E.
Qualifications,
Skills & Experience required:
- University degree preferably in social sciences, international relations and/or development or other relevant discipline

Job summary:

- Establishment and regular management of database and monitoring system
- Documentation of the projects, including project inputs and outputs
- Data analysis for compilation of monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc project data and reports
- Maintain and update the sector specific M&E database, ensuring correct and swift data entry and processing
- Develop data entry forms and reports as required
- Support collection and maintenance of geographic baseline and thematic data
- Research and retrieve data from internal and external sources; and prepare statistical charts, tables and reports
- Prepare maps and other geographic information products (GPS coordinates and GIS Mappings) to assist in project planning and implementation
Qualifications
& Experience required:
- University degree, preferably in Geo-Information and Earth sciences, Statistics or other related discipline.
- At least 3 years’ relevant working experience in field of humanitarian/development M&E implementation
- Experience in preparation, analyzing and maintaining complex databases

Main duties and responsibilities:
- Participate in the planning, implementation, expansion, development, coordination and management of NRC’s Education Project activities in the Area
- Assist in the development of operational activity plans, budget proposals and project narrative reports
- Coordinate with Education actors including the Ministry of Education (MoE) and local education partners, communities, NGOs, UN Agencies and other stakeholders
- Break down the annual work plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly plans detailed for implementation
- Develop training programs and teaching materials with particular emphasis on participatory methodologies
- Coordinate activities within and between YEP Centers
- Monitor, evaluate and ensure that the project activities are consistent with plans, budget lines and expected outputs within NRC’s Project strategy and other standards
- Ensure timely procurement, development and distribution of training modules, educational materials and equipment
- Coordinate with the World Food Program (WFP) on food collection and reporting for the Centers
- Assist in the recruitment of learners, academic teachers and partners/instructors for skills training
- Coordinate assessments, progress tracking, sensitization / mobilization and follow-up salient issues
- Ensure effective distribution and monitoring of school learning materials
- Promote, advocate and implement community mobilization on the Right to Education for All (EFA), gender equal opportunities and rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs)
- Follow up the project budget associated with the YEP activities
- Prepare timely periodic YEP progress reports as required.
Qualifications
& Experience required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education oriented towards adult education or related field of study
- At least 4 years’ of relevant work experience, at least 2 in Humanitarian, urban informal settlement, pastoralist or other educationally challenged peoples contexts.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good planning and organization skills
- Budget management skills.
- Project implementation supervisory skills
- Ability to resolve individual and group conflicts, team player skills with participatory approaches and proficiency in report writing.
- Ability to work under pressure, and independently with limited supervision
- Possess high cultural awareness and sensitivity
