work to enable these communities to achieve improvements to their health,
promoting this as one of their fundamental human rights.
HPA
currently operates in 14 countries worldwide, including Africa, S.E. Asia, E.
Asia and Latin America.
In September 2011, HPA received an award of a grant contract with the European Union to implement a non-state actors and local authority in a development project covering Sahil region of Somaliland.

The
project will be implemented in Sahil region working closely with local
associates (local NGO) and Ministry of Health, Police, Justice and
communities.
This
project is complimenting the existing Essential Packages of Health Service
(EPHS) pilot project funded by DFID.
The overall objective of the project is: “To secure the right to improved Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services of vulnerable women and girls in Somaliland, Somalia in support of MDG3 on gender equality, MDG5 on maternal health and MDG6 on HIV/AIDS” and the specific objective is: “To improve demand for and access to holistic SRH services for women and girls of child bearing age in rural and urban areas of Sahil Region of Somaliland in Somalia”.
HPA wishes to undertake a baseline survey on sexual and gender-based violence within the Sahil region of Somaliland.

HPA wishes to undertake a baseline survey on sexual and gender-based violence within the Sahil region of Somaliland.
The
baseline will look into-socio-cultural status of women in the region, the
prevalence and pattern of GBV, including discrimination against women; and the
causes and consequences of GBV, existing laws (if any), level of knowledge and
awareness on the existing laws, role of the community particularly (opinion
leaders, community elders and justice department family members, NSA etc.)
