Numerical
Machining Complex Ltd (NMC) is an Engineering Firm incorporated under the
Companies Act as a Limited Liability Company established in 1994 by the Kenya
Government.
The
Company aims at becoming the regional market leader in steel production, and
manufacture of high quality machinery, machine tools and components through
employing appropriate state of the art technology and highly skilled manpower.
The Company’s Head Quarters is located in the industrial area, Nairobi and now seeks to appoint suitable candidates for the following positions.
A: REF. NMC/MD/2012- Managing Director
The appointed Managing Director will be a dynamic, visionary and result oriented person of high ethical standards, integrity and professionalism with the overall mandate of managing strong commercial and administrative functions of the Company.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Board of Directors and being the Chief Executive of the Company, the Managing Director will have the following duties and responsibilities;
- Accountable
for the overall performance of the company and for the day-to-day running
and management of the company’s business;
- Steer
the Company to higher business growth and profitability;
- Develop
and present the strategic and annual business plans;
- Implementing
the Board’s policy decisions in a result oriented and timely manner to
achieve the company’s vision, mission, goals, objectives and agreed
performance targets;
- Formulate
and implement best practice management principles and effective communication
between Management and the Board of Directors as well as between different
levels of management of the Company so as to promote ethical practices and
good corporate citizenship;
- Provide
innovative and creative leadership;
- Play
a key role in the facilitation and maintenance of linkages with government
and regulatory agencies;
- Staff
motivation and development to ensure retention of highly motivated and
committed human capital;
- Perform
other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors from time to
time.
Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Bachelor’s
degree in engineering, technology, science, business or any other related
degree from a recognized University;
- At
least ten (10) years of proven experience in manufacturing or related
fields at senior management level;
- Demonstrated
experience in change management and innovation;
- A
proven track record of high integrity and ethical practice with experience
in human resource management, networking and resource mobilization;
- Skills
and experience in strategic thinking, planning and management as well as
team player with excellent managerial, organizational and interpersonal
skills;
- Good
communicator with good report writing skills, interpretation and
understanding of financial issues, legal documents, customer needs and
negotiation skills;
- Familiarity
with the government financial operations and the country’s development
plans particularly Kenya Vision 2030 and
- Membership
to a professional body
Candidates
with high level management training, Masters Degree in Strategic Management,
Finance, Economics, or a related field from a recognized university will have
an added advantage.
In
addition, applicants must satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the
Constitution.
Terms & Conditions of Service
An attractive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the job and the experience of the individual will be negotiated with the right candidate.
The
position is on a three (3) year renewable contract based on performance
appraisal by the Board of Directors in accordance with Government’s Guidelines
for appointment of CEOs of State Corporations.
B: REF. NMC/FM/2012- Finance Manager
Reports to: Managing Director
Responsible for administration of the company’s accounting, financial, planning and tax functions.
Key Tasks
Duties responsibilities will entail:
- Supervising
Finance and Accounts functions
- Developing
and implementing effective financial management systems and procedures
- Report
on the Company’s performance and prepare quarterly financial reports
covering areas such as operational effectiveness, budget trends and
variances as well as cost control initiatives for the Managing Director
and the Board of Directors.
- Preparation
of the Company’s budget estimates
- Preparing
financial reports, statements and accounting records.
- Maintaining
and updating records on the Company’s assets and liabilities
- Coordinating
the preparation of tax returns and compliance with other statutory
obligations
- Interpreting
and implementing Government policies relating to the financial management
of the Company
- Preparing
and presenting proposed budgets to the finance committee for Treasury
approval
- Preparing
statutory financial reports including that appropriation accounts.
Qualifications
and Key Competencies
For appointment to this position, a candidate must:
- Have
served in senior management for at least five (5) years in the area of
accounting.
- Have
a Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines:
- Commerce,
Economics, Accounting, Finance from a recognized institution.
- A
Masters degree from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
- Have
a professional qualification such as CPA(K),ACCA.
- Be
a member of a professional accounting body.
- Have
proven leadership and supervisory experience.
- Have
excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills and
- Meet
the requirements of chapter 6 of the Kenya Constitution.
C:
REF. NMC/AM/2012- Head of Internal Audit
Reporting to: The Managing Director
Duties and responsibilities:
- Managing
the Company’s Internal Audit Unit.
- Examining
and inspecting activity records, accounting systems and procedures to
determine their efficiency.
- Ensuring
the Company’s policies are complied with.
- Providing
leadership in the conducting of special audits.
- Evaluating
progress and status of steps taken to address any current and past
recommendations by external Auditors.
- Participating
and guiding the various internal audit committees.
- Advising
the management on risk management.
Qualifications
and Key Competencies
For appointment to this position, a candidate must:
- Strong
analytical, written, oral communications, strong interpersonal and
relationship skills.
- Have
served for at least eight (8) years in senior management position in
auditing or accounting.
- Have
a Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines:
- Commerce,
Accounting or Finance from a recognized institution.
- A
Masters Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or
- Commerce
will be an added advantage
- Have
a professional qualification such as CPA(K),ACCA
- Be
a member of a professional auditing or accounting body
- Have
proven leadership and supervisory experience.
- Have
excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills and
- Meet
the requirements of chapter 6 of the Kenya Constitution.
D:REF.
NMC/SM/2012-Head Of Sales & Marketing
Reporting to: The Managing Director
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop
and implement sales and marketing plans and strategies for local and
export markets;
- Ensure
high levels of company visibility in the market;
- Set
targets and sales forecasts and ensure they are achieved;
- Device
and support the company’s distribution strategies;
- Establish
and maintain good corporate relations and implement a customer care
management program;
- Steer
market research, intelligence and conceptualize new products for the
market;
- Ensure
brand profitability through correct pricing policies and product costing.
Qualifications
and key competencies
- A
Bachelor’s degree in a Business related field.
- Professional
qualifications from Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
- Demonstrate
excellent people management skills.
- At
least eight (8) years relevant experience in Sales and Marketing, 3 of
which must be in a Brand Manager position and 4 in a senior position in
Sales and Marketing in the manufacturing industry.
- Meet
the requirements of chapter 6 of the Kenya Constitution; and
- Be
a citizen of Kenya

NMC/AP/2012- Head Of Procurement
Reporting to: The Managing Director
Key Responsibilities
- Overall
Planning and Coordination of Procurement Departmental functions by
delivering, storage and ensuring timely distribution of goods and services
to user departments.
- Advice
Management and the Board on procurement and stores policy formulation and
reviews.
- Implementing
procurement policies and procedures for effective management of procurement
services in the organization.
- Providing
Technical support on matters relating to procurement in accordance with
statutory requirements and procedures.
- Developing
strategies to improve Supplier performance and continuous appraisal
- Ensuring
goods and services are ordered as per the required specifications and
within the acceptable lead – time.
- Integrate
market trends and changes in procurement regulations in procurement
processes and advising management accordingly.
- Conduct
periodic market surveys to aid development of an effective procurement
function.
- Ensure
compliance with procurement statutory regulations.
Qualifications
and key competencies
- Degree
in business or related field with at least five years relevant work
experience which must have been gained at managerial level in a large and
busy industrial or manufacturing concern.
- In
– depth understanding of Public Procurement Procedures and regulations
2006 as contained in the Public Procurement and Disposal Act 2005 and
international tendering/supplies management practice.
- Post
graduate diploma in purchasing and supplies.
- Have
professional membership with institution such as CIPS or KISM.
- Have
proven leadership and supervisory experience.
- Have
excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
- Meet
the requirements of chapter 6 of the Kenya Constitution.
