Production Manager

Job Purpose:
 

Responsible for planning, co-ordinating and controlling the cost and manufacturing of a wide range of maize meal and Famila products to achieve targeted KPI’s.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

• Graduate in Engineering, Food or Animal Sciences, Business, or related field.
• Minimum eight (8) years experience in production and plant operations, with at least three (3) years at managerial level.
• Proficiency in Microsoft suite.
• Basic finance knowledge and experience with an ERP are added advantages.
• Knowledge of manufacturing practices (GMP, QM, HACCP,  ISO etc).
• Leadership role in Continual Improvement Process(Kaizen).
• Creative with planning, organizing, leadership, interpersonal and planning skills.
• Creativity

Key Result Areas:

• Coordinate production of quality products in line with agreed production  plans and   cost   
• Ensure plant KPI are achieved within quality specifications
• Set production targets for the various products and continuously align them to Prevailing requirements/conditions.
• Ensure proper maintenance of Plant and Machinery.
• Ensure optimum stock keeping of all Engineering spares consistent with requirements.
• Ensure that Safety, Health and Environment regulations and rules are adhered to.
• Ensure plant is operating within the agreed budget
• Oversee work performance of staff including their deployment, Learning and development and welfare in line with company policy.
• Ensure The designated initiatives are implemented leading to continual improvement
• Communications and Working Relationships:
• Suppliers – Monitor Engineering spares approvals, orders and deliveries.
• Accountant - Review stock movement records and reconciliation and effectiveness of other  internal controls
• HRA – Employee issues
• QAS – Quality issues and quality improvement
• Feed milling machinery suppliers – provision of mill technical services
• The Coordinator – Daily improvement activities
• Distribution Coordinator – Efficient movement and replenishment of stocks
• Raw Materials Supervisor – Movement of stocks to ensure not production downtime due to ingredients.
