Managing Director
National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries whose primary mission is promotion of free and fair trade in commodities through research and market development, and ensure that there is timely accessibility of commodities in line with national development goals articulated in the Vision 2030.
The Board of NCPB wishes to recruit a qualified, dynamic, visionary and dedicated person to fill the above position.
Job Profile:
- Implementing and monitoring decisions of the Board of Directors and appraising the Board on the progress.
- Spearheading reviewing and implementing NCPB Strategic Plan and ensuring its compliance with Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Strategic Plan and Kenya Vision 2030, policy guidelines.
- Providing leadership in change management.
- Planning, directing and coordinating the administrative and office support functions of the organisation.
- Coordinating and preparing business related proposals and resource mobilization.
- Ensuring effective communication between management and the Board as well as between different levels of management.
- Providing leadership and fostering teamwork among all employees.
- Co-ordinating the appointment of supervisors and staff.
- Developing, implementing and reviewing of administration policies, strategies and systems to ensure delivery of quality services to internal and external clients.
- Planning, monitoring and evaluating staff training and development programmes.
- Ensuring continuous achievement of the corporation’s financial and operations strategic objectives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Bachelors degree in the fields of Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Logistics, Law or Agriculture from a recognized University.
- A Masters Degree in any of the following fields: Business Administration, Economics/Agricultural Economics, Law, Agricultural related fields, or any other relevant field from a recognized University.
- Postgraduate professional qualification in business management, marketing, Logistics/supply chain management, distribution, warehouse management.
- Knowledge/experience in Warehousing Receipt System and Commodity Exchange will be an added advantage.
- Possess a minimum of fifteen (15) years experience ten (10) of which must be at a senior management level in a reputable organisation.
- Proficient in ICT with ability to use it in improving business operations.
- Self-driven, and of impeccable integrity and honesty in line with Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya.
- Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence.
- Demonstrated administrative capability required for formulation of national policies and good interpersonal relations.
- Ability to think strategically.
- International business exposure/experience and working in ISO certified environment.
Other Requirements:
- A Certificate of Good Conduct from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
- A Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education loans Board (HELB).
- A Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
- A Clearance Certificate from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
- Membership of a professional body in the area of specialization.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge and experience of Kenyan Labour Laws.
- Knowledge of Performance Based Management.
- Have strong and proven leadership Skills to lead a dynamic team.
- Be a team player, effective supervisory, negotiation, analytical, employee relations, excellent planning and organisation, mentoring, coaching and strong interpersonal and management skills.
