Lutheran World Federation / Department for World Service Kenya - Djibouti Programme (LWF) is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for the following position, to be based in Dadaab Refugee Camp.
Audiologist
He/She shall be responsible for provides hearing evaluation and consultation services to the learners to facilitate the personal, social and intellectual development.
In order to respond to individual needs of the learner at Dadaab refugee camp.
Duties and responsibilities shall include but not limited to the following:-
- Planning, coordination and program development
- Coordinate audiological services with the SNE services provided in the camp and manage its effectiveness,
- Design and implement a mass hearing screening program to meet the local education needs.
- Responsible for scheduling appointment for audiogical evaluation, administering standard diagnostic tests and procedures in keeping with individual learner needs
- Responsible for making recommendations regarding the need for further audiological or other support services Coordinate ontological services, assist in making decisions on placement and assessment services for other children being considered as children with special needs.
- Assist teachers in the development and implementation of curriculum modification and appropriate classroom strategies.
- Monitor learner’s progress and make informed, timely educational decisions.
- Provide individual assistance to hearing learners with communication or educational deficits.
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Essential Qualifications/Professional Skills
- Bachelors in Education specialising in Special Needs Education
- Bachelors in Audiology
- 4 years working in an Educational Assessment Centre (EARC) or any related field.
- Knowledge in Audiometric testing and interpretation
- Previously worked in a hardship or marginalized area.
- Proficient in the use of computers for basic office packages such as M/s office suit.
