Lutheran World Federation / Department for World Service Kenya - Djibouti Programme (LWF) is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate for the following position, to be based in Dadaab Refugee Camp.
Community Service and Development Officer
He/She will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing operational plans in the Community Service Department, while working hand in hand with the other Sector Heads to improve proper operations and management of the Community Service Sector.
Duties and responsibilities shall entail but not limited to:
- Responsible for development of unit specific concept notes, project proposals and budgets.
- Provide technical support to your supervisees in project planning, implementation and M&E of the sector activities
- Support Programme that benefit the community and in line with the vision and mission of the Organization
- Coordinate needs assessment in units within the sector
- Support in training and building capacity of Community Service Staff.
- Responsible for direct supervision and management to all staff within the community service sector
- Responsible for Community Service Staff appraisal
- Responsible for all other forms of sector specific documentations which include regular Human interest stories, success stories, best practices
- Responsible for drafting of sector specific consultancy ToRs/MoUs.
- Further responsible for spearheading dissemination processes and workshops that touch on community service sector
Professional Qualification:
- A degree in social science, project management, community Development from a reputable institution or a related discipline would be considered.
- Working knowledge and experience of humanitarian principles, SPHERE and UNHCR standards and field security protocols and procedures
- Excellent computer skills in word processing, database management, spreadsheets, use of internet and email.
- Proven academic and/or on-job training on ‘Project Cycle Management”.
Relevant Experience:
- At least 3 years of progressive experience gained within an international humanitarian NGO will be an added advantage.
- Previous interaction with Persons Living with Disabilities (PWD’s) will be an advantage.
- Experience and skills in developing proposals, concept papers and reports writing.
- Ability to manage a team and relate well with the host community.
- Experience in conducting trainings, facilitation and capacity building of staff
