The organisation is geographically located in Nairobi, Naivasha, Kericho, Mt Kenya and Mombasa, together with 1,200 vegetable out growers throughout the country and 10,000 tea out growers in western Kenya.

The Location
Based in Nairobi, but with frequent travel to Kericho, Naivasha and Mt Kenya regions.
The Position
Reporting administratively to the Finance Director, the Group Procurement & Logistics Manager will be responsible for leading a best in class department servicing the combined operations of the Kenya group.
The groups 5 divisions are managed through a matrix structure and the jobholder will be required to support operating units with due regard to multiple management structures, providing sound business leadership with timely proactive decision making and advice.
Key Responsibilities
· Providing management and leadership to the procurement teams that currently exist within the organization, identifying opportunities for consolidation where appropriate;
· Strategically seeking to enhance group purchasing convergence and value for money, together with identifying new international supply bases that support the existing ‘value matrix’;
· Actively involved in large capex project spend sourcing and monitoring against budget with divisional executives;
· Spear heading cross group ‘lean’ inventory management solutions, implementing best practice working capital strategies and coordinating and identifying optimum residual value for disposal of obsolete holdings;
· Establishment of effective inventory distribution mechanisms;
· Facilitation in fleet performance monitoring, seeking to harmonise asset bases for effective operation of the same; and
· Specific projects as requested by the executive or self initiated, particularly focusing on sustainability solutions.
Experience, Background and Qualities
· Of critical importance, the candidate needs to be a self starter with high enthusiasm and an ability to engender support and respect from a broad and diverse base of management.
· Excellent relationship management skills required;
· A graduate in a supply chain / procurement discipline or a similar field;
· Registered Procurement practitioner with Kenya Institute of Supplies Management;
· Minimum 5 years senior management experience and minimum 10 years procurement & logistics experience;
· Minimum 3 years experience in African context; and
· Good knowledge of MIS and Inventory / Stock Control systems.
