for the following 2 positions under Total War Against HIV/AIDS (Towa) Project,
HIV/AIDS Department:
Position
Title: Community Development Facilitator (CDF)

Qualified
candidates are invited to apply for the above two positions under TOWA project.
The successful candidates will be offered a fixed one year appointment with a
probation period of three months. Further extension will be based on
organization needs, funding availability and satisfactory performance.
Job
Summary
The
CDF will be responsible for implementing Towa project in the North Rift Valley
and North Eastern Province. S/he will be working as part of a team to ensure
HIV/AIDS support and needs of the PLWHIV are being addressed.
Duties
and Responsibilities
The
successful incumbent will be responsible for the following:
- To participate
in development of Regional (Northern Kenya) HIV and AIDS situation report.
- To participate
in the process of developing Region specific messages in the local
languages that can address issues of stigma and discrimination, against
PLWHIV.
- Facilitate
community based meetings/barazas and discussions on specific relevant
messages that can address issues of HIV in the region.
- Facilitate Anti
stigma and discrimination campaign events in different communities
- Facilitate stake
holders meetings to disseminate the message
- Facilitate
development of radio messages in local languages to be aired in 6 local FM
radio stations.
- Coordinate local
groups in forming working teams toward HIV prevention, care and support,
and reduction of stigma and discrimination.
- Participate in
distribution of IEC materials developed in local languages.
Qualifications
/ Experience (Minimum)
- Minimum of
diploma in community work, Counseling, public health, social work or
equivalent.
- Proven
field-based knowledge and experience in BCC and related activities,
including community mobilization strategies.
- At least two (2)
years of NGO project/program related implementation.
- Strong written
and verbal communication skills both in English and Kiswahili.
- Team player;
ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Must be computer
Literate especially in Micro Soft Word and Excel.
- Must be able to
speak one of the local languages in the northern Zone of Kenya (Turkana,
Pokot, Samburu, and Somali.)
