We are currently recruiting for the following position which will be based at the Mbirikani site:
Laboratory Manager
The Mbirikani Group Ranch Clinic Laboratory services include Biochemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Molecular Biology and Microbiology (for which work is performed in-house), and Cytology/Histology (for which specimens are currently sent to referral labs within the country but some will be brought in-house soon).
The lab is registered by the KMLTTB as a Class F category laboratory and is now seeking ISO/College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation.
In line with our expected growth, the company is seeking an experienced laboratory manager to lead and coordinate laboratory operations while maintaining professional standards of excellence, contributing to overall targets for patient care and growth.
Responsibilities:
Direct responsibility for all day-to-day operations of the laboratory.

Responsibilities:
Direct responsibility for all day-to-day operations of the laboratory.
Reports directly to the Director of Laboratory Medicine.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversight of all daily operations of clinical laboratory and phlebotomy stations including maintenance of strong productivity and efficiency practices, alongside assisting in the oversight of clinical Microbiology.
- Management of all laboratory staff to ensure high levels of performance as well as Class F standards of excellence
- Lead the quality assurance function, maintaining the highest standards on a day to day basis, ensuring ISO/CAP accreditation achieved.
- Strengthen work flow engineering to improve efficiency, maintain positive staff morale and increase the capability for growth.
- Proactively introduce a high level of scientific innovation into testing and technology.
- Work with the Director to maintain the educational standards of the staff and drive the academic function of the enterprise.
- Contribute to strategic planning and regular update of the laboratory’s goal.
- Work side by side with existing staff to execute testing when required.
Experience,
Skills and Abilities
- Strong technical understanding of clinical laboratory and phlebotomy station procedure.
- Knowledge of and experience in meeting ISO-15189 standards.
- Experience as a team leader and people manager including the ability to motivate scientific teams.
- Retained interest in hands-on laboratory work
- Experience of working in the global setting, operating amiably within different cultures
- A demonstrable ability to work with and alongside the scientific functions of the Company.

Qualifications:
- A minimum of Higher National Diploma in laboratory sciences with 6 years Clinical Laboratory experience preferably with a strong component in microbiology gained through academic or professional experience,
- At least 2 years experience as a laboratory manager at a KMLTTB registered lab.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in ISO/CAP accredited facilities.
- KMLTT Board registration and current practice license mandatory.
