Norwegian
Refugee Council (NRC) Somalia / Kenya is a two Country Program with four field
offices in Dadaab (Kenya), Hargeisa (Somaliland), Bossaso (Puntland) and
Mogadishu (South Central).
NRC has been present in Somaliland since early 2004 and expanded to Puntland in 2006, Mogadishu and Dadaab in 2007.
In a short time NRC established Education, Shelter / Sanitation, Distribution and Camp Management projects for IDPs, refugees and local population in Somalia and Kenya.
NRC also has a coordination office in Nairobi, Kenya that was established in 2006.
Position Vacant: Finance Officer
Reporting to: Finance Coordinator
Duty Station: Nairobi, with frequent travel to the field offices in Somalia and Kenya
Duration of Contract: ASAP to 31st December 2012 (with possible extension)

Position Vacant: Finance Officer
Reporting to: Finance Coordinator
Duty Station: Nairobi, with frequent travel to the field offices in Somalia and Kenya
Duration of Contract: ASAP to 31st December 2012 (with possible extension)
Main Responsibilities include:
- Prepare bank accounts and cashboxes reconciliations
- Ensure that all Field Offices’ monthly cash counts, cash forecasts, bank statements and bank reconciliations are undertaken and posted as appropriate
- Prepare the monthly financial Project Summary
- Receive and review all financial vouchers from the Field Offices and ensure that the supporting documents meet NRC and donor financial and procurement rules and regulations
- Ensure accurate maintenance of all NRC financial and accounting files and transactions
- Provide Monthly Analysis of the quality and completeness of the supporting documents to each Field Office
- Participate in NRC Somalia/Kenya project budgets preparations
- Receive and review cash book reports from the various Offices in accordance with the relevant budgets
- Administer the NRC in-house financial and accounting system (Agresso and BIF)
- Ensure distribution of the consolidated financial report from NRC Headquarters to Field Offices
- Prepare financial reports as required by the NRC Headquarters and the donors
- Participate in executing audit activities and implementing audit recommendations
- Assign duties to, supervise and appraise the Finance Assistant and Cashier.
Required
skills and qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance or Accounting
- Minimum of 4 years’ relevant work experience in large organizations
- At least 2 years’ work experience in a similar role within a non-governmental organization (NGO), donor or multilateral agency
- Good knowledge of financial reporting systems in donor funded work
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Good cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Ability to function independently and as a work team leader/facilitator
- Excellent computer skills with hands on experience on computerized accounting systems; Microsoft Excel and word processing packages.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in the English, both oral and written
This
position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya with frequent travel to the field
offices in Somalia and Dadaab;
