Consultancy Services for Valuation of Land &
Buildings, Plant and Machinery for Book and Insurance Purposes
Background
Kenya Electricity Generating Company Limited (KenGen), is a limited liability company 70% owned by the Government of Kenya. It is the leading electric power generation company in Kenya, producing about 80% of the electricity used in the Country.
It has a total installed capacity of 1,200MW and power plants located at different power parts of the country.
Consistent with its mission to efficiently generate competitively priced electrical energy using the state of the art technology, skilled and motivated human resource, the Company intends to engage the services of a consultancy firm for a Valuation of land & buildings, plant and machinery for book and insurance purposes.
Objective of the assignment
The purpose of this notice is to seek expression of interest from suitable firms to be short listed for the consultancy services.
Such
short listed firms will be invited to submit both Technical and financial
proposals .
Scope of Work
KenGen intends to pre-qualify experienced firms to participate in the exercise to
- inspect
and value land & buildings;
- inspect
and value plant and machinery
- submit
a draft and final valuation report and certificate.
The
assignment will cover all areas within the workstations of Nairobi, Garissa,
Lamu, Kipevu, Turkwel, Seven Forks, Upper Tana, Olkaria, Gogo, Sosiani and
Sondu Miriu.
Eligibility
The expression of interest must be accompanied by the consultant’s qualifications, capabilities and details of past experience in the area of Valuation of land, buildings, plant & machinery.
The
consultant shall bid for the assignment individually or in association with
other firms.
The interested firms shall provide the specific information as well as any other relevant information
- Name
of firm who will participate in undertaking the consulting services and
their role in all aspects of the consultancy service. To be submitted also
are name(s) and position(s) of authorized representatives.
- Relevant
reference for the last ten years.
- Description
of management / organisation structure, list of key staff relevant to the
assignment and their Curriculum Vitae inclusive of staff who will monitor
and give backup services.
- Evidence
of incorporation in the country and other statutory registrations.
- Annual
Accounts and Reports for the last two financial years
- Information
regarding any current litigation involving the consulting firm.
- Tax
compliance certificate
NOTE:
A minimum requirement for qualification with proven experience in similar works
and in addition, all personnel involved shall have not less that 5(five) years
experience in the capacity they will serve in the assignment.

not later than noon on, 30th November, 2012 at 2.00pm and be clearly marked “Application for Pre-qualification for Valuation of Land & buildings, plant & machinery for book and insurance purposes Consultancy Services” and bids will be opened in the presence of bids or their representatives on 30th November 2012 at 2.30pm KenGen reserves the right to accept or reject any or all applications without the obligation to assign any reason for the decision.
Applicants will be advised, in due course, of the result of their application.
Only firms pre-qualified under this procedure will be invited to submit their proposals.
