Living Water is providing safe drinking water, Christian Witness, sanitation and health education to communities across Africa.
A vacancy exists in Living Water Africa Region for the Regional Finance Manager who will provide technical financial support to the Africa Region’s management and personnel in their efforts to ensure that sound financial systems, practices, and processes are in place.
Key responsibilities:
- Review the region’s financial integrity, performance and reporting (monthly management accounts, statutory reporting,) by ensuring mechanisms for budgeting, financial controls, accounting, costing, reporting and funding are in place;
- Ensure accurate financial reports and schedules are provided by the Regional and Country Offices to LWI Houston as required, including weekly, monthly reports, consolidations of interim and financial statements, including grants, and year to date budget;
- Confirm all finance staff in Regional and Country Offices are adequately trained in the use of QuickBooks and where necessary provide training;
- Provide guidelines and support to the Regional and Country Offices during budget preparation processes;
- Monitor and evaluate Regional and Country Offices costs and ensure internal controls exist to reduce financial risk;
- Make recommendations to ensure cost savings and efficient improvements are made;
- Support audit, internal and external, efforts in Africa by building capacity in the Country Offices to limit the incidence of audit findings;
- Assist the functions of the Corporate Controller and Senior Accountant in corporate headquarters.
- Research, prepare, and present information - financial models; spending opportunities and/or spending cuts; scenarios based on requests to the Regional Vice President and Corporate Controller;
- Assist in sourcing finance staff. Coach, share knowledge, and mentor finance staff in the Country Offices.
- Attend Africa Senior Management Team meetings, devotional meetings and other team activities when required.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Degree in Accounting /Finance with at least 7 years financial and accounting experience;
- Knowledge of and working experience with QuickBooks accounting system highly desired;
- Experience with grant compliance including USAID regulations a plus;
- Proven knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and practical knowledge of financial systems and internal controls;
- Proficiency in English; Excellent communication skills;
- Proven skills in managing multiple roles and tasks simultaneously and ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Attention to detail;
- Able and willing to travel to international locations that at times may have limited amenities.
