Position Title: Project Manager - NBO
Contract term: Full-time, 1 year contract with possibility for extension
Background: World University Service of Canada (WUSC) is a Canadian non-profit organization with a mission to foster human development and global understanding through education and training.
We are a network of professionals, students, volunteers, faculty, and community leaders who, together, provide opportunities to some of the world’s most disadvantaged youth.
WUSC works closely with Windle Trust Kenya (WTK) on education projects in and around the Kakuma and Dadaab refugee camps.
The Project Manager will support successful implementation of WUSC projects in Kenya. Specific responsibilities include:
- Ensure all WUSC activities are implemented in accordance with donor contract requirements.
- Work closely with WUSC and WTK staff, and provide guidance and support.
- Work closely with finance and M&E staff to ensure adherence to financial requirements, value for money concepts and project monitoring, evaluation and reporting requirements.
- Liaise regularly with Canada-based staff to ensure good coordination.
- Ensure that project feedback, results and lessons learnt are effectively fed back to inform adjustments and improvements in project approaches, scale-up and delivery.
- Ensure good coordination with all education partners (Government of Kenya, UNHCR, UNICEF, etc.) to ensure activities are implemented effectively.
Qualifications:
- Master’s level degree in education, management or relevant field or equivalent mix of education and experience
- A minimum of five years of experience in the field of project management and implementation of development programs with significant annual budgets
- Knowledge of WUSC and WTK (direct experience is an asset)
- Expertise in the use of value for money and results-based management practices
- Demonstrated experience working in uncertain, insecure and unstable locations
- Experience with training & facilitation and/or adult learning concepts
- Knowledge of international development, and refugee issues
- Experience working with ethnically diverse communities and with projects implementing gender mainstreaming strategies
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills in English and Kiswahili
