A water company based in Nairobi is seeking to fill the position of aLaboratory Technician.

Generic Duties
  • Operate and maintaining standard laboratory equipment.
  • Ensuring the laboratory is well-stocked with the required resources.
  • Recording and interpreting results to senior colleagues.
  • Carry out lab tests before and after production.
  • Performing routine laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support production.
  • Prepare water specimens and samples.
  • Following and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks are maintained.
  • Liaising with external bodies on operational standards.
  • Maintaining stock levels of materials and finished goods noting requirements to be ordered/ produced.
  • Ensure the finished product is up to prescribed standard.
  • Ensure that hygiene is observed in the process of preparing and bottling water.
  • Supervision of cleanliness inside premises and outside the compound.
  • Monitoring the production staff to ensure that they have all the relevant requirements when handling food such as; current medical certificates, appropriate attire and personal protective equipment’s.
  • In charge of the batching machines to ensure the opening dates and the batch numbers are correct.
  • In charge of renovation and construction within the premises.
  • Responsible for deliveries in absence of the operations assistant
  • Ensure quality control in all areas.
  • Be able to develop products, conduct basic and new product research and development of foods.
  • Develops new and improved methods and systems for food processing, production, quality control, packaging, and distribution.
Competency Map

Qualification and Experience
  • A Diploma in Laboratory Technology.
  • Experience of 2+ years in a similar role / exposure in mineral water, juices or food stuff will be an added advantage.
  • Possess excellent attention to detail, team player, responsible and work well under pressure.
  • Having good communication skills both written and oral.
