A
community based group organization in drought-prone Buuri District seeks to
fill a contract position for a Business Manager.
The successful applicant will work with a women’s group project to manage and operate the Muchui Business Centre as a self-sufficient and thriving enterprise.
The Centre markets vegetables, tree seedlings, horticultural services, crop inputs and cereals on behalf of its members. Contract term is up to March 2014.

Desired qualifications:-
- A degree or diploma in business management
- Experience in successfully running a business
- Experience working with a community based womens group
- Successful experience in marketing
- Agricultural knowledge and experience would be an asset
- Computer/Internet knowledge necessary
- Ability to work independently, a creative thinker and planner with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Bookkeeping skills
- Willing to work in rural area

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Chair of the organization the Business Manager will:

- Develop a Business Plan for the Muchui Business Centre in cooperation with the women’s group
- Implement the Business Plan, including marketing of vegetables and tree seedlings produced in greenhouses and in kitchen gardens
- Work with the women to move from subsistence food production to producing food to sell
- Gather data necessary to monitor project
- Provide regular progress reports to Project Management Committee
- Network with relevant organizations to solve problems and identify relevant training activities.
- Arrange for the procurement of materials needed by the project
