Clearing Manager

Reporting to the Operations Director, the role ensures the company’s full compliance to custom regulations as well as managing the clearing and forwarding activities across all Operations within East and Central Africa.

The role is based in Kenya but with frequent regional travel.

Initial key responsibilities include:-

• Advice management on customs regulations, implications on all major business decisions, Research and give briefs on local and regional customs operations affecting Group’s operations
• Ensure compliance with Customs requirements and regulations in relation to product declarations
• Execute, monitor and ensure customs bonds and other security bonds are maximized and retired on time
• Reconcile all export products and ensure lodgment and settlement of duty drawback claims
• Liaise with clearing and forwarding agents to ensure declarations and surrender of custom documents
• Oversee regional product clearing process and respond to all issue raised by Revenue Authority
• Liaise with revenue authorities and other stakeholders in all countries of operations, to resolve arising tax issues
• Team leadership and development
• Effectively support Operations and Supply teams through efficiency of this function.

The person:-

• A university degree in a related field with at least four years experience in a similar role in the oil industry or handling oil products clearing activities.
• Understands Clearing and Forwarding Operations as well as industry customs documentation
• Has a good understanding of regional tax regimes and Oil Industry operations (importation, loading and exportation)
• Excellent performance track record
• A self driven individual with excellent planning, problem solving, leadership and analytical skills.
• Good negotiation and networking skills
• An assertive team player with unquestioned integrity.
