The
National Museums of Kenya (NMK) is a state corporation established by an Act of
Parliament, with a multi-disciplinary research role to preserve and present
Kenya’s past and present cultural and natural heritage for the benefit of the
country and the world.
NMK
manages several Museums, Sites and Monuments of national and international
importance alongside priceless collections of Kenya’s living cultural and
natural heritage.
In
addition, NMK is involved in extensive research in various fields ranging from
biomedical, cultural, natural and biological sciences.
We
are seeking to recruit a diligent and result oriented individual to fill the
position of:
Chief Internal Auditor
Position
function
Reporting
to the Director General and the Board Audit Committee, the position holder will
provide overall leadership and strategic direction in mitigating against risks
and ensuring compliance with documented policies and procedures
Duties
and Responsibilities
- Overseeing the operations and continuous improvement of NMK internal controls, risk management and governance process
- Improving on existing internals system to ensure that internal operational risks are identified, analyzed and addressed
- Providing both the Board and management with regular assessment and opinion on effectiveness of NMK risk management and control systems
- Following up on implementation of audit recommendations
- Supervising and managing the audit team and ensuring optimal level of resources in order to realize set targets.
Qualifications
and Competencies
- A degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
- Full accounting professional qualifications( CPA or ACCA)
- Be a member of relevant professional bodies such; Institute of Internal Auditors, Institute of Certified Public Accountants (Kenya) or any other recognized body
- Ten years experience in finance or audit, three of which should be at supervisory management level
- Thorough knowledge of audit principles, procedures and practices
- Experience in computerized accounting and auditing systems
- Demonstrated good judgment, confidentiality and high integrity
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven ability to develop, motivate and manage a team
