About
ICPAK:
The
Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) is the professional
organization for Certified Public Accountants in Kenya established in 1978 by
the Accountants Act, CAP 531.
Since
then, ICPAK has been dedicated to development and regulation of the accountancy
profession in Kenya so as to enhance its contribution and that of its members
to national economic growth and development.
Head, Professional Services Division
Job Summary:
Reporting
to the Chief Executive, the incumbent shall oversee the Professional Services
Division which is in charge of offering various services to ICPAK membership
including financial reporting standards, member registration, compliance and
regulatory matters, training and development, management of practice monitoring
programs and consultancy.
Responsibilities:
The
essential duties and responsibilities include those set out below. Other duties
may be assigned to meet business needs.
- Provide
strategic direction to the professional services division in line with the
Institute’s strategic plan.
- To
oversee the management of various departments falling in the professional
services division and provide input to all matters relating to ICPAK
membership in order to meet members’ needs
- Prepare
reports to Chief Executive and Council regarding various programs in the
professional division.
- Monitoring
and evaluating performance of the division to ensure that performance
standards and objectives for all heads of departments in the Division are
met.
- In
charge of the division’s budget by ensuring that departmental budgets are
developed and submitted on time.
- Promote
compliance with accounting and auditing standards
- Enhance
members competencies by providing appropriate training programs
Experience: The ideal candidate
will have:
- Minimum
Eight (8) years experience preferably in academia, research or public
audit practice.
- Well
developed intellectual, analytical and diagnostic skills and have broad
appreciation of theoretical and practical underpinnings of the accountancy
and other related professions.
- Ability
to establish priorities, plan and encourage performance, coordinate and
monitor work of others, delegate appropriate responsibility, be
accountable and exercise decision-making appropriately.
- A
strategic thinker with excellent leadership organizational, communication
and interpersonal skills with the ability to nurture and build
relationships influence and motivate.
- Sound
computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Ability
to work with others at all levels of the organization and possess the
experience and confidence to provide leadership and guidance that is
respected and credible.
Academic
and Professional Qualifications
- Must
be a holder of a Masters Degree in Accountancy or Finance and a Bachelors
degree with an upper second class honours.

Manager, Legal
Job Summary:
Reporting
to the Chief Executive, the incumbent shall provide Legal advisory and Company
Secretarial services to the Institute.
Responsibilities:
The
essential duties and responsibilities include those set out below. Other duties
may be assigned to meet business needs.
- Ensure
that the Institute complies with the Accountants Act, the Companies Act
and any relevant laws and regulations associated with membership of
regional and international organizations like IFAC, IASB and PAFA.
- Monitor
the regulatory environment and its impact on the Institute and its members
- Carry
out Company Secretarial activities.
- To
formulate guidelines to enhance the integrity of the profession and ensure
member compliance with laws regulations and standards
- Facilitate
the Activities of the Disciplinary Committee to discharge its mandate
including member investigations and discipline.
- Provide
legal services to the Institute through
- Drawing
and reviewing of legal instruments such as contracts, leases and agreements
between ICPAK’s Council and third parties
- Monitoring
and overseeing court cases filed against ICPAK and other disciplinary
cases
- Coordinate
Institute’s conveyance transactions
- Undertake
research on legal matters on best practices from other Accountancy
Institutes
- Advise
on legal arrangements between the Institute and various stakeholders
including suppliers, service providers and creditors
- Advice
on changes required to the By-Laws of ICPAK to harmonise with existing
laws and ethical codes.
Experience: The ideal candidate
will have:
- Minimum
five (5) years senior management practical demonstrable experience in
commercial law, company law, and financial services law
- Sound
knowledge of relevant government regulations and policies including the
New Constitution of Kenya
- Strong
analytical and organization skills
- Sound
computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Ability
to work with others at all levels of the organization and possess the
experience and confidence to provide leadership and guidance that is
respected and credible.
Academic
and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor
of Law from recognised university in Kenya
- A
Master’s Degree in Law from a recognized university in Kenya will be an
added advantage
- Advocate
of the High Court of Kenya of at least 5 years in good standing
- Membership
to ICPSK will be an added advantage
- A
Certified Public Accountants of Kenya
