The
Catholic University of Eastern Africa (Lang’ata Campus) is seeking to recruit
dynamic, qualified and result oriented persons to fill the positions of ICT
Manager and Corporate Communications Manager.
Both
positions report to the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration.
ICT Manager
ICT Manager
Job
Purpose: To
provide leadership in the formulation and implementation of CUEA’s ICT strategy
and the development of information technology and telecommunication systems;
and management of ICT security.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To
re-organize and re-structure CUEA’s ICT Department
- To
develop and implement ICT objectives, strategies and operational plans in
relation to CUEA’s strategic Plan;
- To
develop service delivery strategies and design ICT solutions;
- To
develop and Implement a service policy and develop appropriate performance
indicators;
- To
re-assess and re-define the organization-wide standards in hardware,
software, and ICT services;
- To
provide technical, functional and organizational guidance and support to
projects;
- To
monitor and coordinate the implementation and adherence to ICT policies,
procedures and standards;
- To
plan and direct the implementation and operation of the common ICT
Infrastructure;
- To
guide the assessment of CUEA’s challenges in relation to the new
technologies;
- To
advise on ICT staff recruitment and develop the capacity of ICT staff;
- To
develop the basic IT skills for ail CUEA staff in liaison with the Human
Resources Manager;
- To
prepare and manage the annual ICT budget;
- To
advise the management on effective and strategic use of ICT and related
cost reduction opportunities;
- To
prepare ad hoc, quarterly and annual reports on all ICT activities and
projects;
- Any
other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Education,
Experience, Skills and Competencies:
- Have
PhD in an ICT related field with 4 years working experience in a similar
position; OR Masters degree in an ICT related field with 10 years relevant
experience, 4 of which should be in a similar position;
- Demonstrate
understanding of global trends In ICT with wide knowledge and experience
In driving IT enabled change;
- Demonstrate
experience in the management, control and support of ICT services and a
track record in developing ICT solutions;
- Demonstrate
expertise and experience of supporting technical infrastructure, and in
managing and Implementing Information systems and supporting technologies;
- Have
strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills;
- Possess
project and general management skills;
- Possess
strong negotiation, facilitating and influencing skills;
- Have
excellent communication and customer service skills;
- Have
capability to communicate ideas and technical information to a
non-technical audience;
- Have
ability to develop people, building effective teams and partnerships;
- Be
a person of integrity with high moral standards.
Corporate Communications Manager
Job
Purpose:
To develop and implement communications and marketing strategies towards the
attainment of the University’s Strategic objectives
He/she
shall evaluate customer research, market conditions, and implement marketing
plan changes, and oversee all marketing and advertising activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To
develop and implement a comprehensive and integrated communications
strategy;
- To
formulate and implement viable marketing strategies;
- To
oversee production of news, feature stories and publicity materials;
- To
manage and coordinate all marketing and advertising activities of the
University;
- To
design, implement and facilitate annual marketing plan for the University;
- To
conduct market research to determine customer requirements;
- To
oversee the University’s Website
- To
analyze customer research, current market conditions and competitors
information;
- To
monitor and evaluate marketing strategies and programmes to determine
their effectiveness;
- To
prepare monthly and annual reports of the CUEA’s marketing activities;
- To
determine and manage the University’s marketing budget;
- To
oversee design, production and distribution of promotional communication
materials;
- To
plan and manage rapid response communications in situations of
organizational crises;
- To
develop and maintain professional contacts with key print and broadcast
media
- To
ensure proper management of all CUEA events;
- To
cultivate a customer-oriented culture amongst CUEA staff
- To
lead the University’s commitment to long term Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR);
- To
manage the University’s external and internal (press) releases;
- To
provide counsel to senior executives on messaging and media relations;
- To
identify new program opportunities to enhance the University’s image as a
socially responsible University;
- To
be able to identify potential corporate crisis and identify strategies to
handle those risks
- To
develop job description for other personnel(s) serving in the same office;
- To
periodically direct the University on viable ways of branding and
rebranding CUEA
- To
perform any other tasks as assigned by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor
Administration.
Education,
Experience, Skills and Competencies:
- Have
PhD in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations with 4 years working
experience in a similar position;
- OR
Masters degree in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations with 10
years relevant experience, 4 of which should be in a similar position;
- Be
a mature person in age and character — at least 30 years;
- Exhibit
knowledge In audio-visual productions and print media will be an added
advantage;
- Demonstrate
high level of maturity and Integrity with high moral standards;
- Have
good problem analysis and problem-solving skills;
- Have
outstanding interpersonal and marketing skills;
- Exhibit
good knowledge of the trends of higher education in the region and beyond;
- Have
excellent communications skills with a good command of spoken and written
English and Kiswahlli languages
- Working
knowledge in any major foreign language will be an added advantage.
- Have
proficiency in MS office applications among other relevant computer
applications.
