Role Purpose:
 
To ensure, the implementation of Save the Children’s monitoring and evaluation systems in Child Protection and Education programmes in Dadaab, Kenya, she/he will ensure quality delivery of programmes and maintenance of high professional standards of all programmes.

Dimensions: Save the Children has been operational in Kenya since 1984, providing support to children through developmental and humanitarian relief programmes delivered both directly and through local partners. 

Current programming focuses on child protection, child rights governance, education, health, HIV/AIDS, livelihoods, nutrition and WASH. 

Save the Children has an operational presence in Dadaab Refugee Camp, Eldoret, Habaswein, Mandera, Meru and Wajir and has a logistics hub in Garissa. 

Currently, we have a staff complement of approximately 370 staff and expenditure of approximately US$30 million this year.

Key Areas of Accountability:
  • Lead on all Monitoring, Evaluation and Accountability and Learning activities for the project in line with Save the Children M&E Policy.
  • Track of project outputs, using Save the Children monitoring tools for top line programme outputs as well as for estimating beneficiaries reached for each field office.
  • Support in the development and implementation of clear, practical M&E Plans for programmes in Dadaab for effective qualitative and quantitative data collection.
  • Conduct monitoring support visits, information management and reporting with reference from the databases to provide high standards of transparency and accountability
  • Support the analysis and learning for development/generation of new knowledge in Child Protection and Education programme
  • Coordinate Data and MEAL Assistants and support the mainstreaming of accountability and participation in all the programme work with support from the Accountability Officer.

Qualifications and Experience
  • University degree in social sciences or development related fields and good understanding and interest for M&E systems
  • Experience of working on M&E systems, preferably with National or International NGOs
  • Minimum of two years working experience
  • Understanding of data confidentiality and protection when handling sensitive case files and ability to provide leadership and professionalism in enforcing protocols and monitoring adherence to them
  • High level of computer literacy and data management, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access
  • Proven data analysis and report writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili
  • Ability and willingness to make frequent field visits to project sites, and to work with technical teams/technical environment
  • Demonstrable ability to adapt to changing program priorities and emergency priorities that may arise
  • Strong self-starter who is able to take initiative
  • Commitment to Save the Children aims, values and policies, including child safeguarding and data protection
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience and skills in project planning and financial reporting
  • Experience in designing and facilitating training and mentoring of staff
  • Experience of working on child protection programmes, including individual case management and community-based child protection networks
  • Knowledge of Kisomali
