The Government has established the Commission for University Education as the successor to the Commission for Higher Education.

The
Commission for University Education is a State Corporation, established under
an Act of Parliament, Universities Act No. 42 of 2012 to make better provisions
for university education and for connected purposes.

The
values and principles that underpin the operations of the Commission and
provide it with operational guidelines for service delivery are:
- Integrity;
- Professionalism;
- Accountability;
- Openness
and teamwork.
The
functions of the Commission include:
- promote
objectives of university education;
- advise
the Cabinet Secretary on policy relating to university education;
- promote
and assure relevance and quality of university education;
- monitor
and evaluate the state of university education systems in relation to the
national development goals;
- develop
policy for criteria and requirements for admission to universities;
- recognize
and equate degrees, diplomas and certificates conferred or awarded by
foreign universities and institutions in accordance with the standards and
guidelines set by the Commission from time to time;
- undertake
or cause to be undertaken, regular inspections, monitoring and evaluation
of universities to ensure compliance with set standards and guidelines;
- accredit
universities in Kenya;
- regulate
university education in Kenya;
- accredit
and inspect university programmes in Kenya.
The
Management is in the process of coming up with a Logo that will capture the
following features:
- mandate;
- core
values and principles;
To
do this, it requires a competitive contribution of creative Kenyan designers to
assist in designing a logo.
The
Commission now invites interested individuals, firms and companies to design a
suitable corporate logo.
The
Logo should be dynamic and encapsulate what the mission and vision of the
Commission for University Education is.
The
designers should suggest colours that suit the Commission image and brand
identity.
A
hard copy of the proposed logo shall be submitted accompanied by a soft copy in
a CD.
Designs
should be presented in plain sealed envelopes clearly marked COMMISSION FOR
UNIVERSITY EDUCATION LOGO and be deposited in the Tender Box provided at the
main entrance reception area or posted to the address indicated below so as to
be received on or before Thursday 7th February 2013 at 12.00 noon.
The
submitted designs will be appraised by the Commission and winners will be
awarded in order of merit as follows:
First
position: 100,000/=;
Second
position: 75,000/=;
Third
position: 50,000/=.
The
following terms and conditions will apply:
1.
the competition is open to the general public;
2.
any material, graphic, software or otherwise, submitted by the entrant in the
competition, shall belong to and remain the property of the Commission for
University Education;
3.
a panel of experts will be appointed to evaluate submissions and select the best
three entries;
4.
the decision by the panel of experts will be final;
5.
CUE will communicate the outcome of the competition to all entrants
