The County Government of Vihiga wishes to recruit competent and qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions as provided under Section 44 and 63,65,66 of the County Government Act No. 17 of 2012.

Radio Producers - Job Group J (2 Posts)

Terms of Service: Contract

Requirements for Appointment

• Degree in Mass Communication from a recognized institution
• Diploma with an experience of not less than three years will be considered.
• Be a creative person and able to work with little supervision,
• Must demonstrate experience and knowledge in Mass Communication.
• Good knowledge in ICT
• Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution
• Any other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Production of programs
• Planning, directing, editing, presentation, scripting and research of programs

Radio Presenter - Job Group J (4 Posts)

Terms of Service: Contract

Requirements for Appointment

• Degree or Diploma in Mass Communication from a recognized institution.
• Be fluent in spoken and written English and Kiswahili.
• Must demonstrate talent in broadcasting.
• A proven experience in the usage of English, Kiswahili and any Vihiga County local dialect will be added an advantage.
• Good Knowledge in ICT
• Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution

Duties and Responsibilities

• Will be involved in initiating, planning, directing, presentation, script writing and research of radio programs.
• Any other duties as will be allocated

News Reporters - Job Group H (3 Posts)

Terms of Service: Contract

Requirements for appointment

• A Diploma in journalism from a recognized institution. Degree is an added advantage
• Must demonstrate a special journalistic talent
• Should be honest in his/her reporting
• Good knowledge in ICT
• Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution

Duties and Responsibilities

• Gathering and writing news commentaries.
• News analysis, editing radio bulletins, scripting the departmental weekly programs in conformity with the organizations editorial policy.
• Verifying the quality of news.
• Covering of development projects and social -cultural activities.
• Fluency in English, Kiswahili and any of the local dialect in Vihiga County.
• Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution.

Programmes Officer (Traffic) - Job Group J (1 Post)

 

Terms of Service: Contract

Requirements for Appointment

• A Diploma or a degree in Mass Communication.
• Fluent in English, Kiswahili and any local dialect in Vihiga County.
• Be able to work under strict deadlines.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of production of radio programs
• Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for drafting of studio running orders. 
• Keeping of commercial booking sheets.
• Preparation of availability and books for commercial sports as specified on contract schedules of programs.
• Keeping of service logs both current and expired.
• Scheduling of programs.

1. A certificate of Good Conduct from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID)
2. A clearance certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
3. A tax compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
4. A certificate from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
5. Clearance from any Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
