This position reports to the Commercial Procurement Director South Asia Middle East & Africa with a dotted line to the Finance Director East Africa.

The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Accountable for all purchasing within GSK East Africa through understanding and interpreting the overall business direction and objectives and cultivating strategic relationships with key stakeholders.
- Ensures that the company is strategically aligned to procurement group governance, policies and procedures.
- Ensures that the company obtains maximum benefit from group sourcing contracts by identifying ideal opportunities and using broad range strategies to drive out cost.
- Understand the key customers’ budgets in order to assess sourcing opportunities aligned with their business needs.
- Develop procurement processes and ways of working to increase performance, create efficiency and improve compliance.
- Promote the role and function of procurement within the local business units through the development of specific communications and information sharing.
Qualifications
& Knowledge:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Business or Finance related field and a post graduate qualification in Supplies & Logistics.
The candidate will have at least 5 years procurement strategic sourcing experience, preferably in a busy commercial environment.
Candidates with Finance or Marketing/Sales related experience will have an added advantage.
The candidate will be computer literate with experience in working with procurement web-based tools. They will have basic accounting and numeracy skills.
The candidate will also have good interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and a strong sense of team work. They will demonstrate good organizational skills, unquestioned integrity, a high level of business acumen and ability to interpret procurement processes into business strategies.
