are seeking highly motivated, talented and hard working individual for the
position of Technical Director HIV/AIDS/TB based in Nairobi.
Reporting to the Project Director and in close collaboration with Deputy Project Directors and other advisors, the Technical Director is a key member of the project senior management team.
S/he
has primary responsibility over the technical direction and coordination of
HIV/AIDS/TB activities related to treatment, care and support, within the
integrated framework of APHIAplus.
Responsibilities
also include serving as liaison with USAID and other partners with regard to
the defined HIV/AIDS/TB program areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate
APHIAplus efforts to provide high quality HIV/AIDS/TB treatment, care and
support technical assistance to Coast Province and Nairobi Province in
line with available policies, standards and guidelines;
- Develop
strategies to promote transfer of essential HIV/AIDS/TB programs related
management, operational and technical skills to project partners within
the PDMS and PDPHS, collaborating non- government and private sector
organizations. Provide senior technical support and guidance to all
project staff;
- Assist
the Project Director in communicating the strategic vision for the
project, in developing and updating annual work plans, in ensuring that
project deliverables are of high quality and produced in time;
- Support
the Deputy Project Directors in each province to ensure that HIV/AIDS/TB
program elements are coherent, integrated, and according to standards and
maximize the use of available resources of the project;
- Make
continuous use of all available data to analyze, evaluate, plan or
document interventions, and instill data driven program management among
project and partner staff;
- Participate
in the identification, development and scale up of innovative strategies
to improve the overall quality of HIV/AIDS/TB services available to
different target populations;
- Work
closely with F&A to develop budgets to support technical activities
and monitor the execution of these budgets; work closely with M&E and
coordinate the review of inputs for quarterly, semi- annual, annual and
other periodic reports for HIV/AIDS/TB program elements;
- Where
needed, liaise with Ministry of Health and NASCOP to provide the project
with most up to date information related to program areas covered;
- Collaborate
with USAID HIV/AIDS Program Officers to ensure good communication about
issues related to coordination and implementation of program area related
interventions.
- Liaise
with other USG or other donor supported projects to ensure good
communication about collaboration and efficient use of HIV/AIDS and TB
resources in complementarity to APHIAplus inputs to supported sites;
- Coordinate
program area related contribution of APHIAplus to working groups and to
national or international conferences.
Job
Requirements:
- Advanced
Degree - MMED ( Internal Medicine, Pediatrics or Infectious Diseases)
- Minimum
of five years of experience in HIV/AIDS/TB program design and management
is required.
- Up
to date knowledge on clinical management of HIV/AIDS, particular expertise
in new diagnostics and drugs
- Proven
capacity building experience, and experience working on integrated health
projects
- Experience
in developing policy documents and technical guidance
- Demonstrated
experience in documenting interventions or evaluation findings,, and
strong computer skills preferred.
- Demonstrated
experience with and understanding of PEPFAR monitoring and evaluation
requirements.
- Excellent
English oral presentation and written skills
