Job Profile
Shift Technical Operator
- Assists the Shift Technician in the smooth running of the Pipeline.
- Prepare petroleum tanks to receive or issue products by carrying out the required measurements for volume calculations.
- Raise Dip and Meter Ticket reports.
- Carry out product sampling for quality control measurement
- Drain Product tanks of water.
- Operate/Reset field equipment as instructed by the Technician.
- Take product measurements, (levels, temperatures, densities, Millipore tests e.t.c.) as instructed by the Shift Technician.
- Monitor interfaces.
- Top up corrosion inhibitor tanks, monitor and adjust dosing rates.
- Bring up noted equipment defects to the attention of the shift Technicians
- Skim OWS
- Perform joint Operation with other facilities connected to KPC like OMC Terminals on matters related to product transfers as directed by Technician.
Technical Operator (Tank Farm)
- Carry out Housekeeping duties in Tank Farm, Plant Areas, Control Room, etc.
- Supervise casual workers that may be engaged from time to time.
- Report any defects noticed on equipment to tank Farm technician.
- Keep a record of general duties done in Tank Farm, Plant Areas
- Checks interceptor daily to ensure no uncontrolled discharge to environment.
- Assist draining of tank farm (bundwall areas).
- Assist in sludge transportation to disposal sites
- Collection of material from Stores.
- Member of Fire Fighting Team
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Technical Operator (Loading)
- Lines up the island just before commencement of loading.
- Guides truck drivers to the island.
- Ensures that trucks at the loading island are properly earthed before loading.
- Ensure that truck drivers have the appropriate safety gear.
- Counter checks the FAN tickets against order to confirm the shipper and volume to be loaded.
- Liaises with driver to confirm the volume and product for compartment as indicated in the FAN ticket is correct and inserts the loading arms in the correct compartments.
- Liaises with Lading Supervisor on the right truck to be brought to the island as per availability of loading arm.
- Ensures the volume of the product on the ticket has been loaded in truck.
- Ensures that load truck leave the island safely.
- Reports any defect on the island to the Loading supervisor.
- Hands over properly to counterparts while leaving the island.
Key Competencies
- Ability to acquire knowledge and understanding of KPC System.
- Good organizations skills and Public Relations
- Flexibility and responsiveness in getting quick understanding of operations issues.
- Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook express including statistical packages.
Person Profile Minimum Educational Level
- KCSE Certificate C (Plain)
- Final Craft Certificate in any engineering field from a recognized field
