Summary: Our client is the national organization for employers and its key mandate is to promote the interests of employers. It seeks to ensure that national labour and social policy provides an environment favorable to enterprise sustainability and job creation. 

They are seeking to engage dynamic and results driven professionals to fill the position of Public Relations and Communications Officer.

Reporting to the Manager, Public Relations and Communications, the successful candidate will support the implementation of the PR and Communications strategy to promote the image of the Federation
Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the internal and external communication strategy
  • Support the organisation’s  advocacy and lobbying activities and communication
  • Prepare and place press releases and print advertisements, facilitate media monitoring
  • Preparing announcements, including news releases, newsletters and news shots.
  • Work with line managers to develop website content including regular updates of the web pages and addition of links to/from the site.
  • Edit and arrange for production of corporate communication tools (annual report, communication kit, brochures, banners, newsletters, e-shots and other brand standards).
  • Collect corporate communication items of different departments and ensure that they are communicated through the right channels
  • Edit and produce speaker support presentation materials (print and PowerPoint) for seminars and speeches.
  • Execute events to promote public relations and corporate image
  • Maintain the organisations Federation’s clippings and historical files.
  • Support the implementation of the communications/ marketing plan for the organisation, its products and services.
  • Design the graphic needs or coordinate with external designers, agencies and vendors.
Knowledge, skills and experience required
  • Degree in Languages/Linguistics/ Literature or Mass Communication
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations
  • At least 3 years working experience in public relations and communication
  • Must be proficient in Ms Office Suite of packages
  • Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good report writing skills
