Vacancy: Parents Teacher Association Training Consultant

In a context where there is not widespread support for girls’ education, it is critical to work with Parent Teacher Associations (PTA’s) and existing school management structures towards greater understanding and support.
A girl’s success in school is enabled by having parents and a community that encourage her education.
To ensure widespread support for girls’ education, KEEP is working with PTA’s to raise awareness, and promote girls’ education.
The PTA’s are critical to ensuring the broad reach of the project and will build sustainability through community leaders who will be advocates of girls’ education when the project is completed.
The PTA Training consultant will provide targeted training to 267 PTA members in the 89 KEEP target schools located in the Dadaab and Kakuma refugee camps and surrounding host communities.

The training will support PTA members to effectively participate in school governance and ensure improved management of schools performance and promotion of girls’ education in their respective schools.
Duly qualified individuals/consultants will be responsible for the following:

- Development of PTA training materials and modules
- Training design and delivery
- Trainees monitoring plan design and delivery
- Reporting on the progress and results of the training
It is expected that the successful candidate will have:
- Degree in social sciences, psychology, education or other related field. Masters will be an added advantage.
- Substantial training Implementation experience at a senior level in the specific thematic area (Parent Teacher Associations and School management committees - Participation in the development of training materials/Modules)
- Familiarity with the Kenyan schools governance structures including the roles and responsibilities of PTAs and the barriers to their effectiveness in schools management as well as issues of girls education
- Demonstrated ability to travel and work in remote areas with rural populations
- Experience in mainstreaming gender equality into training materials
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
Experience working in project locations (Dadaab, Fafi, Wajir South, Turkana West and Kakuma) would be an advantage but is not a requirement.
