Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) is the voice of Kenya’s private sector and the apex business organization.
KEPSA is a member-centric organization with corporate and business organization members, and has positioned itself as the premier convenor of public-private sector dialogues in Kenya.
KEPSA is expected to provide thought leadership to complex public policy issues affecting the business environment and private sector in its dialogue with national and county governments, and business information and networking services to its membership.
To this end, KEPSA is now searching for exceptional individuals with the right competencies and strong leadership qualities to enable it deliver on its mandate.
Job Title: Chief, Policy & Public Private Dialogue
Job Summary: Is anchor for KEPSA’s thought leadership on policy issues providing intellectual and advocacy leadership to policy & advocacy team and public-private dialogue.
Key Responsibilities:
- Is the team leader for policy research, analysis, and advocacy in KEPSA under the National Business Agenda (NBA).
- Provides intellectual and coordination leadership for all the policy team’s outputs that will include policy briefs, policy papers, special studies, board and management presentations, and all of the materials for public private dialogues.
- Anchors the public-private dialogues at national and county levels, and is the public face of KEPSA’s policy advocacy.
- Provides intellectual leadership and quality control in the provision of business information services that will include periodic business & market intelligence reports, and economic & market surveys.
- Provides internal coordination of all policy process between the secretariat, sector boards, and business member organizations (BMOs).
- Provides oversight and leadership to all KEPSA’s project activities
- Is the key owner of the business strategy KPIs and ensuring the ease of doing business and competitiveness indices are met.
Candidate Qualities
The successful candidate will have:
- Ability to provide thought leadership for complex public policy issues affecting the business environment and propose practical strategies and solutions to these issues.
- Solid strategic and leadership abilities, confident and capable of providing intellectual and management leadership to the public-private dialogues, the policy & advocacy team, the projects team, and relationships with internal and external partners.
- Ability to engage with and maintain excellent relationships with top researchers, analysts, and public intellectuals in Kenya and elsewhere.
- Proven capabilities in coordinating and delivering high quality and timely outputs under tight schedules and pressure.
- Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills
- Knowledge of how the private sector works and business climate in Kenya
- Knowledge of Kenya’s political economy and policy and regulatory processes in the public sector
- Familiarity with regional and global business and regulatory environment
- Evidence of ability to interact, relate to, work with, and support the CEO, KEPSA Staff, the Board, Sector Boards, and other internal and external partners.
We are looking for a candidate who holds a master’s degree or Phd in business, economics, public policy, or any other related discipline with at least 10 or more years of experience since attaining the bachelor’s degree.
The candidates should also have worked in the private sector, public sector, business organization or international organizations in public policy analysis and research positions for at least 5 years.
