RefugePoint is a non-governmental organization dedicated to assisting refugees and asylum seekers in the urban environment of Nairobi. RefugePoint operates urban health, community services and protection programs.

RefugePoint seeks to hire a full time community health nurse. Candidates for the position will have experience working with refugees, ability to carry out a variety of field-based work including community forums and health education, and working closely with other caseworker team members to provide quality assistance to refugees and asylum seekers.

Community Health Nurse – responsibilities:
  • Organizing and conducting home and community visits for refugees, follow up and make recommendations on individual cases.
  • Identifying health education needs and conducting community health education in liaison with the Medical Services Manager and community health workers.
  • Triaging patients at our out-patient clinic and taking vital signs.
  • Assisting in the Comprehensive Care Clinic for HIV positive clients.
  • Assisting with dispensing drugs.
  • Maintaining accurate inventory of drugs.
  • Maintaining and updating client’s records.
  • Performing any other medical related duties assigned by the supervisor.
  • Minimum Diploma in Nursing (KRCHN)
  • Registered by the Nursing Council.
  • Over two years experience in community health including identifying vulnerable cases, home based care or community health education.
  • Additional training on community health, HIV /AIDS management and home based care is preferred.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Cultural sensitivity.
  • Excellent spoken Swahili
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Somali language skills an advantage.
