We seek to recruit a talented, innovative and results oriented individual to fill the position of a Communications Officer

The individual will be a member of the Office of Communications reporting to the Associate Director of Communications in New York with a dotted reporting line to the Regional Managing Director, Africa.

The Communications Officer is a member of the Office of Communications (headquartered in New York) and will be the main point person in the Africa region for all communications needs, ensuring alignment to the global strategy across functions.  

The position is based in Nairobi and reports to the Associate Director of Communications in New York with a dotted reporting line to the Regional Managing Director, Africa.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Developing and implementing a strategic communications plan for the region
  • Supporting the Regional MD and the global communications team in promoting the work and goals of the Foundation
  • Providing remarks, talking points and briefings for the Regional MD
  • Supporting the Regional MD as required, on internal and external communications
  • Supporting planning,  providing content / briefings and coordinating visits and other relevant engagements by the Foundation President and Senior Leadership Team members
  • Handling all related project plans for consultants deployed to work on communications plans
  • Creating and implementing media relations campaigns for the region
  • Coordinating media interviews and events
  • Developing social media content for the Rockefeller Foundation website and for specific events
  • Providing media relations support and counsel to grantees
Education, Training and Experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, International Studies or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 - 8 years generalist communications experience in multinational organizations, with existing networks that would be relevant to the work of the Foundation
  • Experience in and/or strong familiarity with the non-profit and public sectors
  • High proficiency in written and spoken English & Swahili languages.  Working knowledge of French will be an added advantage
  • A proven track record of working within the region in managing projects, consultancies, budgets and meeting deadlines
  • A proven ability to think strategically, analyse critically, and to translate ideas and insights into action through coherent and viable programs and plans
  • Exceptional team leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills

About the Job:- BIMAS is looking for a Head of MIS and IT.
 
S/he will be responsible for entire functioning of MIS and IT department of the organization.
 
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Strengthen internal controls and systems by bringing industry best practices;
  • Chart robust policies and standard operating procedures on methods of accessing information;
  • Manage technology, automate and integrate the various existing systems;
  • Evaluate and develop an integrated management information system/ IT strategy for the organization across all three layers tactical, operational and executive level as per the changing needs;
  • Set quality control protocols for reporting and ensure they are met;
  • Manage and analyze data to ensure that MIS data is accurate and robust. Ensure that reports are accessible and to all stakeholders;
  • Ensure that MIS service level agreements are set and reviewed annually;
  • Liaise with the relevant parties to ensure that the software is managed and maintained effectively;
  • Set security systems and ensure the same;
  • Advise staff on methods of accessing information and provide in-house training for staff in the use of MIS systems and other computerized systems as appropriate;
  • Increasing resource utilization efficiency in the department;
  • Estimate resource needs in the department;
  • Any such additional responsibility pertaining to MIS or IT.
Qualifications:
  • Relevant Post Graduate qualification;
  • Technical expertise in information technology, systems development, DBMS, RDBMS not limited to SQL, Access, FoxPro, Oracle. Cloud Computing experience would be added advantage;
  • Ability to groom existing systems/processes by bringing in industry best practices;
  • Demonstrated ability of leading key business functions;
  • Adaptability to a socio-commercial culture;
