Schutter Energy is a rapidly growing renewable energy company in Nairobi providing biogas systems to small farmers in rural Kenya. 

Building on two years of market research and installation experience, we have developed a new business model and technology that will bring the many benefits of biogas energy to the masses in Kenya by eliminating the main hurdle to its adoption – the high upfront cost. 

Our new technology overcomes the biggest hurdle in biogas implementation, reducing the initial cost to consumers from KES 100,000 per unit (£770) by approximately 90%.  

In Kenya alone, there are two million farmers with at least one cow who are potential clients.  

We will pilot the new technology in the first half of 2013 and scale it from the second half of the year. 

On its way to this goal, Schutter Energy is looking for a motivated, proactive and energetic Office Manager to manage our head office, maintain our accounts and be our first contact with customers calling into the company.

What would you do?
 
The role will include:

Manage the Schutter Energy head office, including
  • Answer customer/supplier phone calls
  • Send invoices and receipts
  • Dispatch field staff
  • Maintain office supplies
  • Address any issues with service suppliers
  • Maintain a clean and positive office environment
  • Pay utility bills, taxes, payroll, etc
Maintain Schutter Energy’s accounts, including:
  • Record revenues and costs in Quickbooks
  • Make and receiving M-Pesa and cash payments on Schutter Energy’s behalf
  • Maintain Schutter Energy’s petty cash
  • Produce regular financial reports
  • Maintain Schutter Energy’s sales inventory
  • Be the first point of contact for customers calling the office (in person and by telephone)

Scope of responsibilities:

The Support Activity Manager supports the logistics coordinator in Juba and will be in charge of the logistics support activities of the entire mission, holding the following responsibilities:
  • Define and implement adequate means, resources and processes for the proper and safe management of energy, transportation (fleet management), biomedical equipment, cold chain, radio and telecom, and IT, and do the MSF standard reporting to the Logistics Coordinator on the development of the ongoing activities and proposing reorientation when needed.

  • Participate actively in the definition and update of annual logistics planning and budgets, defining logistic technical support strategy and advising the Logistics Coordinator in the transformation of the logistic support needs identified into objectives, priorities, and resources needed for adequate logistic support.
  • Monitor and administrate logistics support indicators (fundamentals), collecting logistic data and monthly reports and forwarding them to the Logistics Coordinator.
  • Plan and supervise, in close coordination with the HR department, the associated processes (recruitment, training, briefing/debriefing, performance evaluation, detection of potential, development and internal communication) of the logistics support staff in the mission in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required to implement all these related activities to the logistics staff under his/her direct responsibility.
  • Ensure technical reference for all logistic support issues in the mission and provides coaching to logistics staff.

Education: Technical degree/diploma or equivalent MSF experience (Deputy Logco, Field Logistician, Head of Logistic Activity)
