The purpose of the role: 

  • Assist in managing and developing the client relationship, including project design, proposal writing, planning and research analysis on projects
  • Assist in organizing the team
  • Plan and execute Qualitative research projects with some supervision
What this role has to deliver:
  • Development of Client relationships:
  • Manage and develop the client relationship, provide the highest level of client service
  • Consistently exceed client expectations
  • Financial management:
  • Responsible for monitoring Qualitative project costs and implementing cost effective solutions
  • Play a key role in achieving targets for Account GM and profit
Proposal process:
  • Use available sources to identify the best possible research solutions for clients
  • Create or assist with creation of proposals to meet client need
  • Participate in (or lead straight forward) costing processes, prepare draft costs & check quotations
Project management:
  • Facilitate regular communication with key stakeholders
  • Execution of the study in the best and most cost effective way
  • Responsible for project scheduling and managing change effectively
  • Focus the team on profitable and high quality outputs providing feedback throughout
  • Create project related materials
  • Conduct qualitative fieldwork and analysis as part of a team (Qualitative Space)
  • Manage Ideas Architects projects and develop skills in project design and facilitation (Ideas Architects)
  • Analysis/reporting:
  • Work with team to analyze findings to meet client needs
  • Work with team to generate insights and recommendations to meet client needs

Job Purpose: Lead the finance function within a large and complex professional services business in East Africa (Kenya), working closely with the CEO to ensure excellent performance from both the commercial and finance teams alike. 

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Lead all aspects of the finance function in East Africa; planning, monitoring and reporting results and supporting the senior leadership team through change and growth
  • Ensure systems, controls and processes are in place to enable effective monitoring of financial results, attaining required level of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) controls.
  • Play a leading role in the definition and implementation of financial and commercial strategy and policy
  • Lead all aspects of the reporting, budgeting, forecasting and planning processes
  • Provide leadership and development support for the finance team
  • Ensure that the business meets Group and IFRS reporting requirements across all markets in which the Kenyan business operates.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local accounting, tax and statutory requirements for each location
  • Analyse and interpret business performance to provide the central management team with appropriate advice to aid decision making, and Region and Group with coherent explanations of performance
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors’ degree in Commerce or related from a recognized university.
  • CPA(K)
  • Good Working Knowledge of ERPs, SAP preferably.
  • 7 years’ experience gained in a similar capacity.
  • Knowledge & Skills:
  • Ability to work closely with senior management from both finance and non-finance backgrounds
  • Proven track record of progression in a demanding role, ideally within a professional  services based organisation

Audit Firm Tax Accountant

Our client a leading Audit Firm is looking to hire a competent Tax Accountant.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Keep updated on all Tax Laws and all Tax changes
  • Submit VAT, PAYE, and Corporate Tax returns
  • Lodge and follow up customs duty and VAT refund claims
  • Ensure correct procedures and documentation are submitted for importation and exportation of products and equipment
  • Do all Tax reconciliation
  • Do deferred tax computations and reconciliation
  • Follow up on Income Tax returns and payments
  • Be able to update the Management on existing and on new Tax regulations
  • Ensure adherence to KRA Tax Regulations and requirements
  • Liaise with clearing agents and KRA on importation and exportation of products
  • Dealing with corporate taxes and custom taxes
  • Be able to manage external Audits for both KRA and financial statements Audits
Qualifications & Competences
  • Degree in Business, Accounting or Commerce
  • ACCA/CPA qualifications
  • At least 3- 5 years working experience in an Audit Firm, handling Tax
  • Thorough knowledge of Taxation Laws and of Tax processing systems
  • In-depth knowledge of Customs and Excise Tax, VAT, Income Tax, Acts
  • Proactive forward thinking on analyzing Tax Laws and Tax changes and their effects on the organization
  • Ability to research concepts and Tax applications effectively
  • Ability to advise the clients on Tax effects of all initiatives and projects
  • Ability to handle Corporate Tax issues
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and proper documentation
