Summary: Our client is a FMCG company looking for a Quality Manager.
    
Job Purpose: As a member of the management team, the Quality Manager is directly involved in the design and compilation of the company’s strategy and its resulting implementation, to achieve the short-, mid- and long-term objectives of the company within corporate guidelines. 
 

The Quality Manager ensures a constantly high level of product quality for products manufactured by the company and is the key contact for all quality related questions and aspects. 

He is responsible for maintaining and developing the quality system of the company according to internal, national as well as international standards. 
 

As the Head of Team Process Improvement he is responsible for adopting new technologies for the company and to improve technical processes in terms of efficiency and quality. 

Primary Responsibilities:

Quality Management

• The job holder is responsible for the quality tests of all incoming materials, bulk products and finished goods according to legal requirements and internal corporate guidelines.
• He defines the test frequencies as the result of his evaluation of risk and economical efforts and further on decides about release or rejection of materials. These decisions have to be made in close contemporary connection to the production process which regularly requires risk based decisions without complete data available. In case of quality deviations he steers interdisciplinary corrective actions which often have an international scope because of close delivery schedules and service levels.
• He also develops and ensures procedures according to GMP and FDA regulations which are capable of successfully passing internal and external audits.
• He tracks and steers the success of the Quality System by monitoring failure costs and other process indicators.
• He aligns and adjusts his employees and the service hours with the production demands.

Team Process Improvement

• The job holder is responsible for the continuous improvement of production processes and ensures a smooth transition of new products and technologies into the company.
• He actively supports the production groups in increasing their efficiency and in decreasing their production cost while maintaining the required quality level.

Supply Chain Plan, Budget Responsibility

• The incumbent has planning responsibility within the framework of corporate and local specifications and is responsible for the plan (investments and maintenance costs) to the Managing Director.
• The job holder ensures that the objectives approved in the Supply Chain Plan regarding budget, quality, and quantities are fully met.
• He comments on variances using the existing reporting system. He proposes counter measures and ensures their implementation.
• The incumbent is responsible for the timely preparation and passing on of monthly reports, quarterly and year-end statements.

Export to affiliates and imports

• Due to the high percentage of exported products by the company (70 %) the job holder safeguards the compliance with international standards in order to meet the requirements of the International Production Network (IPN). Deviations are evaluated by the job holder contemporary to the release/reject decision and transformed into adequate corrective actions with international affiliates sometimes based on a risk assessment. This also applies to imports from the IPN

Subcontracting

• The job holder is responsible for the enforcement of BDF quality standards at subcontractors in case of so called ‘overspill production’.
• He decides about release and rejection of goods coming from overspill production suppliers.

Release and rejection of drugs and coequal products

• The job holder is responsible for legal conforming tests and decisions of pharmaceutical drugs and coequal substances like Eucerinum anhydricum or OTC (FDA) products. This also includes respective documentation and filing.

Supplier development

• The job holder is responsible for the evaluation and development of suppliers by; auditing the quality systems of suppliers and evaluation and monitoring of the delivered quality.
• His decisions and evaluations are reported to corporate functions like Quality or Purchasing and influence the admission or rejection of suppliers.

Projects

• The job holder conducts and leads complex projects with subjects of quality and efficiency as well as organizational topics. 
• Additionally he is member of varying interdisciplinary projects in the company or corporate functions also in an international environment.

Audits by customers and authorities

• The job holder is key contact for customers or national and international authorities for questions related to quality, quality systems and audits. He attends these audits and ensures a proper preparation and follow up.
• As the Quality Manager of the biggest company production centre his area of responsibility is often chosen as an exemplary place to audit the company in total (internationally).

Development of QM-system

• The job holder is responsible for the implementation of the current version of the cosmetics directive and other national and international guidelines.
• He is also responsible for a correct and solid documentation related to the manufacturer’s liability.
• As the representative of the biggest company production centre he also takes part in the development of the company’s Quality Management System by Corporate Quality Management Incl. QM-related IT-Systems (pilot system).

Organization and leadership

• The job holder contributes to the development and implementation of the company’s strategy.
• He is responsible for identifying areas of change, adapting and implementing change processes in his area of responsibility in line with the corporate approach.
• He manages his staff according to the company’s HR guidelines including annual Performance Reviews and Talent Reviews.
• He defines trainings and development measures (e.g. coaching) in line with the current and long term needs including occupational health and safety training.
• He ensures up-to-date job descriptions and makes personnel decisions for his department.

• Release and rejection of raw materials, packaging materials, bulk and finished products
• Signature of regulatory documents and certificates as Qualified Person
• Order authorisation from company’s warehouses.
• Signature and clearance authorisation according to company’s regulations

Education:

• Master’s Degree in Engineering, Science or Business Administration.

Project Manager (Civil Engineer and Quality Surveyor) 

1 Position
 

Duty station: Uganda - Tenure up to 3 years 
 

Reporting to: Head of Corporate Affairs

Overall purpose: The position exists to efficiently manage all EADB’s properties; oversee their maintenance; recommend optimal usage and where applicable generate targeted revenue. 

The Project Manager is accountable for the entire Bank’s property (owned, leased or rented) in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania & Rwanda. 

The role will also include development of real estate projects for the Bank and its clients and shall participate in the appraisal review of property development projects the Bank intends to finance.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop for management’s approval a property development and maintenance manual and guidelines;
• Provide advice and counsel to Investment Officers on property development projects. When appropriate, assist in developing tailor-made solutions to meet clients’ demand;
• Provide advisory services to management on issues of land tenure in East Africa, property taxation, land value, property development strategies, rental charges, tenancy regulations etc;
• Participate in the acquisition and disposal of properties and/ or assets according to the Bank’s guidelines; appraise the housing markets in major cities in the region, advise management on property pricing and recommend potential properties for acquisition to expand the Bank’s estates investment;
• Prepare and present for management approval estates’ revenue generation plans and revenue growth strategies;
• Prepare property management budgets and major maintenance works plans for all EADB estates. Pre-qualify suppliers, service providers and contractors and negotiate favourable terms for the Bank;
• Oversee renovations and rehabilitation of Bank properties as approved in the capital budget, set performance standards and prepare terms of reference for contractors and service providers; prepare and /or approve bills of quantities and specifications to facilitate the renovation of EADB premises; supervise renovation, construction and/or maintenance works; and confirm that the works meet the Bank’s standards and are completed before payments are made;
• In conjunction with the risk management department, assess/ evaluate the safety and security risks of all the Banks properties and propose mitigating strategies;
• In conjunction with the security office, prepare safety and security guidelines; oversee the installation of safety gadgets and security systems; and communicate security and safety information to tenants and other property users;
• Create and maintain an updated record of all EADB’s properties, establish their value and report on the same regularly.
• Prepare and present to management monthly revenue and expenditure reports in area of responsibility showing performance against targets. Identify, propose and implement cost control and management strategies;
• As the first port of call for EADB’s estates, provide information as required to potential, existing and exiting tenants; and
• Carry out any other duties assigned by Management.

Qualifications and Experience

• A First degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or other relevant technical degree;
• Professional qualification in property management, construction, project management or equivalent;
• At least 7 years’ experience in construction and/or property management within a busy commercial environment;
• Experience in the preparation of Contract Conditions and Specifications;
• Experience in maintenance works, management of contractors and preparation and review of bills of quantities;
• Basic accounting training and experience;
• Must have strategic and business orientation;
• Must have knowledge of land and property management legislation;
• Must have high level of integrity, initiative, good judgment; and
• Must have supervisory skills and excellent communication skills.

Introduction: The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) was established in Nairobi, Kenya in 1975 under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. 

It is an intergovernmental organization and currently has twenty (20) member States, namely: Botswana, Burundi, Comoros, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

RCMRD’s main mission is to promote sustainable development through generation, application and dissemination of geo-information and allied ICT services and products in the member States and beyond. 

The main Geoinformation technologies promoted by RCMRD are Geographic Information System (GIS), Satellite Remote Sensing, Global Positioning System (GPS) and Information Technology (IT). 

RCMRD is also vigorously involved in the promotion of the development of National Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) in its member states and in Africa.
 

Since establishment, RCMRD has been instrumental in capacity development in resource surveys, mapping, remote sensing, GIS and natural resources assessment and management in Africa. RCMRD implements projects on behalf of its member States and development partners as well as undertaking advisory services, research and development activities.

Remote Sensing Officer (Pl/P2)

Duties and responsibilities:
 

Under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Remote Sensing, Geo-information Systems and Mapping, the incumbent will carry out the following functions:

• Lead the remote sensing and environmental management section in supervising and implementing projects and capacity development activities.
• Initiate Work Plans and prepare Budgets
• Identify opportunities and write and submit project proposals for funding
• Provide advisory services and technical support in the integrated use of remote sensing in member States
• Promote the application and use of remote sensing in member States and to other stakeholders
• Carry out research and project services in the application and use of remote sensing technologies for sustainable development
• Ensure quality control and assurance of production work; and
• Assess the capacity development needs of member states in the field of remote sensing and earth observation and prepare/review training curriculum and training materials

Requirements:
 

The ideal candidate must have:

• Msc in Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry, Geomantics, Environmental Science and GIS with at least 5 years practical work experience in the field of Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry, Geomantics, Environmental Management and GIS. Or;
• BSc in Geomatics, Earth Science, Environmental Science or Geography with at least 10 years practical work experience as Remote Sensing Expert.

Contract duration: Three (3) years renewable.

Remuneration
 

Salary Scale: The salaries for the above position are consolidated and are in the range of: PI/P2 : USD$ 23,685 - USD$ 43,841 p.a.

Entry point for the position will be determined by qualifications and experience.
 

Benefits: These include contributory provident fund with both parties contributing 7% of monthly basic salary towards the fund, gratuity at the rate of 10% of annual basic salary based on successful completion of the contract and a staff contributory group medical scheme to a maximum of five (5) family members.
