Requirements:
  • Sales and Marketing experience within the IT industry

  • A Degree/Diploma in Sales and Marketing/IT especially the BBIT - Bachelor of Business and Information Technology

Qualifications and Experience

The candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience:
  • Be a Professor or Associate Professor of a recognized University with an earned PhD.
  • At least 6 years of experience in senior academic and management positions (at the level of Senior Lecturer and above)
  • Ability and leadership skills to effectively coordinate the research function in the University.
  • Provision of research and academic leadership.
  • Knowledgeable in strategic planning in research and educational development.
  • Proven capacity to promote learning, teaching, research and development in a university.
  • Knowledgeable in national laws and policies in education.
  • Be of highest ethical standards, integrity and professionalism.
  • Should have published widely in internationally refereed journals and show evidence of attracting research grants/funds.
Duties and Responsibilities

Working under the general direction of the Vice Chancellor the successful applicant shall:
  • Have the overall responsibility of direction, organization and administration of research programmes in the University.
  • Ensure that the University Senate is properly advised in the development of research programmes in conformity to ethical standards and legally recognized professional bodies.
  • Ensure effective accountability to the Vice Chancellor for the proper management of the Division of Research & Extension.
  • Responsible for promoting and coordinating research, scientific publications, innovation, extension and technology transfer to industry business community.
  • Mobilize and solicit financial support for research and community extension through fundraising activities from industry, business companies and donor organizations.
  • Maintain collaboration and linkages with both local and international institutions of higher learning for academic research and innovation programmes.
  • Coordinate workshops and seminars on outreach programmes on technology transfer.
  • Promote knowledge dissemination to meet the needs of the University and the community through publications and exhibitions.
Terms and Conditions of Service

Terms and conditions of Service are performance based and include competitive salary, house
allowance and other allowances.

In addition the Deputy Vice-Chancellor will be entitled to the following benefits:
  • Medical cover as per University Medical Scheme
  • Leave Allowance
  • A Chauffer driven official car
  • A gratuity of 31% of basic salary at the end of the contract
The contract for this position will be on a five-year term and the successful candidate shall be eligible for re-appointment upon the expiry of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.

KENDAT seeks to employ a Team Leader and Manager with specialised knowledge and experience in sustainable and innovative development interventions that influence positive change in human-animal interactions for the betterment of work-animal welfare and household livelihood systems.

This Senior Staff position based in Nairobi (Kenya) requires a highly motivated and animal welfare passionate individual, familiar with equine welfare and Kenya’s agribusiness and logistical operations under farm and peri-urban work environment.

Great familiarity with agribusiness and animal welfare partnership mobilization and building at individual, group and institutional level, from farm to policy levels is a mandatory backing.

  • Knowledge of basic animal welfare concepts and an understanding of the importance of working equines to the economies of developing countries.
  • Experience in playing implementation as well as representational roles in partnership building at local and senior levels, including policy and international arena.
  • Proven experience in developing, leading and managing teams and building partnership agreements, with confidence and due regards to dependable budgeting of finance and other resource management.
  • Credible experience with organizational risk registers, security procedures, rural development project M&E tools, conflict resolution, engagement of children and the youth, animal risk and welfare assessment, micro-finance and other group effort etc.
  • Excellent engaging communication and presentational as well as information management skills and the ability to write clear concise reports for a variety of audiences.
  • An excellent Team Player and Strategic Thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, backed by IT and internet savvy, social media and other competence.
  • Capacity to prioritise and work with a high degree of independence and in flexible work hours to undertake a heavy workload under pressure and tight deadlines, including under international travel conditions.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Human Resource Manager will be responsible and accountable for providing line mangers efficient human resource services, within a matrix reporting structure. This role covers the East African Region.

Responsibilities
  • Develop human resource for the Eastern Africa region in line with the corporate guidelines, creating regional harmonization for easy transfer of employees and incorporate local practices to keep the business competitive and able to attract, reward and retain talent
  • Create effective processes that deliver HR services in the areas of recruitment, deployment, performance management, succession planning, employee engagement, learning and development, reward and employee relations efficiently and in a timely manner
  • Create and execute forums to educate and equip the HR Officers and Line Managers in the organization’s human resource management policies, procedures and initiatives to enhance their competence as people managers
