We are a Construction & Engineering company offering services in construction of building & civil works and water & sewerage projects.

We are registered in Kenya, South Sudan and Rwanda and we are looking for project staff to oversee our projects in Kenya and South Sudan.

Position: Project Engineers - Building & Civil Works

Work Station: Kenya or South Sudan

This position reports to the Project Manager.

Job Requirements
  • BSc. in Civil Engineering or any related field.
  • Proficient in MS Projects and MS Office proficient
  • The candidate must be aged between 30 and 40 years
  • Post graduate qualifications in project management shall be added advantage
  • Registration with ERB as Graduate or Registered Engineer and membership with IEK or any other relevant registration body shall be added advantage
  • A minimum of 12 years relevant experience in building & civil engineering projects of which at least 5 years should be in a senior supervisory position
  • The candidate must have experience in supervision of multi- storey buildings
  • Candidates who have worked in South Sudan will have an added advantage.
  • The candidate will be expected to plan and execute the project within the allocated time frame, approved budget and meet client expectations
  • The candidate will be responsible for the preparation, monitoring and evaluation of budgets, material, and labour schedules for the assigned project.
  • The candidate must have very strong project management skills
  • The candidate will be the point person between the company and the client or consultants
  • The candidate must be able to work and deliver under pressure
  • The candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Position: Site Agent – Building & Civil Works

Work Station: Kenya or South Sudan

This position reports to the Project Engineer

Job Requirements
  • Minimum Diploma in Building and Civil Engineering or construction related discipline
  • HND or BSc in Civil Engineering or any related field will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in computer applications MS Excel/MS Word
  • A minimum 10 years post-graduate experience in the supervision of large building projects. They must have been fully in charge of the projects on site
  • The candidate must have experience in supervision of multi- storey buildings
  • Candidates who have worked in South Sudan will have an added advantage.
  • The candidate will be responsible for the day to day management of the project on site.
  • The candidate will be responsible for quality and good workmanship on site.
  • The candidate will be responsible for assessing labour requirements and sourcing for labour.
  • The candidate must have some basic training in first aid
  • The candidate must have good project planning and management skills
  • The candidate must be able to work and deliver under pressure
  • The candidate must have some basic training in first aid

The UIP is a three-month internally-supported comprehensive competence-building programme under the Youth Alive! Kenya Leadership Development Programme.

The programme targets students below 25 years of age within the public and private universities in Kenya and works to develop principle-centred leadership and managerial abilities among young people.

It aims at providing hands-on experience in non-profit development work by the integration of theory and practice. Comprising structured learning and client-focused field work, the UIP works to expand technical and practical skills of the students to conceptualise, develop, implement, monitor and evaluate programmes across culture, gender and age.

The UIP is implemented through a sensitive and participatory learning process with attention given to individual learning dynamics as well as team performance.

Working under the Democracy & Governance programme and reporting to the Programme Assistant Democracy & Governance, the position will entail providing direct assistance to the implementation of projects under the programme and supporting the expansion of programme strategy including the development of new activities under the programme.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in the implementation of various activities under the democracy and governance programme Component as guided by the programme Associate.
  • Assist in the preparation of programme status reports required for budget review, programme analysis, reports, etc
  • Assist in co-ordinating and organising meetings, workshops and seminars and other activities related to programme implementation and assist in the preparation of presentations of such workshops and meetings
  • Assist in coordinating the activities of the youth development working groups under the democracy and governance programme component.
  • Any other duty called upon to serve from time to time.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
  • Must be between the ages of 20 and 25 years;
  • Must be an undergraduate student or a fresh graduate of social sciences preferably political science or public administration at an accredited and internationally recognised institution of higher learning in Kenya or resident in Kenya at the time of application.
  • Must be a fast learner with excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills with fluency in English;
  • Must be a team player with the ability to work with others to achieve high goals in a fast paced and culturally diverse environment;

The Centre accountant will be reporting to the Centre Director and will be tasked to run the accounts department at centre level, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintenance of principal books of accounts and records on income, funds disbursements and expenditure.
  • Preparation of annual centre work plans and budget.
  • Compile and analyse financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts.
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
  • Prepare financial management reporting for submission to KEMRI Headquarters.

  • Facilitate internal and external audits.

Preferred Skills:

Qualifications and Competencies
  • Business degree (Accounts option) from a recognized university and at least CPA II.
  • Minimum of three years experience working in the government and donor funded projects.
  • Must be computer literate, especially in electronic spreadsheet, and other accounting packages.
  • Capacity to work with minimum supervision to meet strict deadlines as well as willingness to work outside normal office working hours .
  • Have knowledge on (a) Banking and (b) Financial Control.
