Key Responsibilities
  • Perform network security design and integration
  • Design and implement network topology to meet needs such as IP telephony, L2MPLS VPNs, L3MPLS VPNs, IPv6, Frame Relay, Ethernet technologies etc
  • Daily administration and oversight of the network and computer systems
  • Diagnose problems and solve issues, often under time constraints.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients and train staff in best practices for customer service
  • Provide network and host based security, incident response, firewall and VPN management and administration.
  • Implement the necessary controls and procedures to protect information systems assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure, or destruction.

  • Monitor network usage, anticipate problems and suggest solution
  • Work closely with colleagues to meet team goals and improve processes and practices.
  • Remain current on emerging technologies via professional groups, trade magazines, internal and external training, independent research and study, and other avenues available.
  • Rapidly respond to emergency situations, including direct response as well as coordination of other IT/Network staff, both during and outside of normal business hours.
  • He will be responsible in leading the technical team on day to day routine, e.g. design, network growth strategy, , budgeting and implementation of efficient systems, customer technical support, architect for customer solutions and sales team liaison for RFQs, Bidding and ensuring customer SLA levels are met and exceeded
  • Ensure that technical team performs within set technical guidelines by providing or co-authoring standard operating procedures.
  • Responsible for Internal SLA to departments/ group companies and External SLA to customers/partners.
  • Play a key role in product development from R&D to building it and presenting to Sales for marketing & sales

Education, Skills and Experience Required for the position
  • To qualify you must have a minimum of 8 years technical and management experience at executive – level (experience on GPON,SDH, VSAT & Wimax will be an added advantages).
  • CCNP, JNCIA,JNCIE / CCIE written or practical preferred
  • The ideal candidate must have strong leadership skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Degree in Information Technology/Comp Science / MBA preferred.
  • Experience advising and communicating with non-technical staff and guiding technical decisions
  • 5+ years of expertise in implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices, including: firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points and controllers, and monitoring applications
  • Knowledgeable in application transport and network infrastructure protocols (SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, WINS, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, CIFS, LDAP, and Microsoft AD), and possess an understanding of how to support these applications / protocols when accessed through VPN and firewall appliances.
  • Experience deploying an enterprise campus Wi-Fi network
  • Understanding and implementation of network traffic analysis, remote access methods and systems, stateful inspection firewalls, encryption, authentication and authorization technology.
  • Hands on technical experience working with VPN technologies (IPSEC, SSL VPN, WebVPN, AnyConnect, DMVPN, etc.)
  • Configuring network services using open source technologies on Linux servers
  • Willingness to engage in mentoring more junior staff members and interns
  • Experience in a fast paced support environment in a campus networks as a member of a 24x7x365 network and/or security operations team.
  • Expert level skills with Windows and Mac Operating Systems.
  • VMware Enterprise administration experience
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technologies and products, independently using documentation and online resources
  • Strong combination of strategic planning, communication, interpersonal, management, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage a team

Those aspiring to join KDF as GSO Cadets should note that the initial training period will cover three continuous years leading to a BSC in Military Science on successful completion.

Must be registered with the relevant statutory body, where applicable.

Technical Engineer

Rwanda Mountain Tea Ltd (RMT) is one of the leading producers of black tea in Rwanda. Since 2006, the company has invested in the acquisition of tea factories and tea garden; it embarked in a rehabilitation and modernization program of the factories, the expansion of tea garden and the improvement of the final produce: the black tea. In the medium term, RMT is planning to further increase its production, to diversify and add value to its products.

RMT owns or have shares in 6 factories in the west/south western regions of the country.

To better sustain its program, RMT is seeking the services of an experienced/committed Technical Engineer who will oversee the technical requirements and operations of the tea factories and will advise RMT management in regard to the most efficient and cost effective equipment; he will also be in charge of sourcing appropriate equipment and ensure that factories are running without interruption due to technical failure or malfunction.

Requirement of the Position:
  1. A holder of graduate degree (engineer) in mechanical engineering or related fields;
  2. Have at least 15 years of proven experience in the tea factories, with at least 5 years in a managerial position;
  3. Have an excellent command of all the technical requirements and machinery operation in the tea industry; it will be a plus if the candidate has led a process of starting and lunching a new factory;
  4. Be a good team player and be able to supervise other engineers or technical staff at a lower position;

Location:

3. Electrical Engineer

  • Coordinating operations and maintenance of electrical equipment, including Turbo and DG sets.
  • Handling and maintaining heavy electrical equipment, DC/AC motors, VFD control systems, DC/AC automation systems with DCS, LT and HT control systems.
  • Testing, evaluating modifying, re-resting electrical parts/products and implementing electrical designs.

IP / MPLS Engineer

In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:

Reporting to the Principal Engineer-IP NGN Support, the role holder will carry out fault resolution, configuration changes, quality assurance and system improvement to deliver reliable and quality transport network.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure uptime of the physical network devices and the services running on the network at all times;
  • Respond to alerts within the agreed SLAs;
  • Minimize the Mean time to repair (MTTR) - time to restore service after an outage;
  • Respond to network faults within the agreed time lines respective to the severity levels attached to the faults;
  • Perform quarterly disaster recovery  and resiliency tests;
  • Ensure Network Related Fault Clearance Rate and availability;
  • Provide Emergency Maintenance on IP/MPLS Network / High Level trouble shooting;
  • Liaise with IP vendors, Interfacing with TAC centers and Vendor Tier 2 and 3 support staff as per agreed SLA timelines;
  • Maintain a weekly fault log indicating issues, their resolutions and recommendations;
  • Compile and submit incident reports within 2hours of fault resolution;
  • Fault prediction & avoidance – Undertake scheduled maintenance checks as per agreed timelines to ensure good physical conditions of the NGN IP transport pop;
  • Perform preventive maintenances on the logical set-up to ensure stability of the network and best practice configuration analysis at all times;
  • Ensure up-to-date documentation on the network activities and network performance;
  • Ensure Knowledge transfer on IP NGN Network to the first line Team, any new   IP NGN Engineers and to any external engineers on rotational orientation.
Role Requirements;
  • BSc in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical &Electronics /Computer Engineering or equivalent required;
  • 4+ years of direct Network Engineering/Network Support experience in a busy Service Provider environment;
  • CCNP/CCIP certification a must;
  • In depth understanding of QoS, Diffserv, Traffic shaping and traffic QoS policy implementation;
  • Experience with network management and monitoring tools (e.g. Cisco LMS/ISC, Ethereal, Cacti, Zabbix);
  • Articulate high level understanding of multi-services platforms, routing protocols ISIS / RIP / RSVP / OSPF / BGP / iBGP / and troubleshooting down to packet level;
  • Knowledge of QOS techniques and hands on experience on implementing MPLS services;
  • Very strong hands-on skills with extensive experience in the troubleshooting and solving complex network related issues.

and upgrades computer hardware, software, personal computer networks, peripheral equipment and Corporate-wide network systems; assesses user training needs and trains users in effective use of applications; makes recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions; prepares documentation and provides user assistance to System Administrator; and performs related work as required.

Also analyse technical network related problems reported by end user, diagnose the most effective method to resolve the problem, implement solution, install ,maintain and trouble shoot company LANs and WANs, data communication, computers and all peripheral equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

Installation, Configuration and Management of Software
  • Install, configure and upgrade operating systems and software, using standard business and administrative packages; may modify specific applications for use in operational departments
  • Installs, assembles and configures computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners and related hardware; pulls cables and rewires or directs the rewiring of cables as required for new installations and office reconfiguration
Trouble shooting and problem solving.
  • Troubleshoot problems with computer systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, e-mail, network and peripheral equipment problems; make repairs and corrections where required
  • Act as a technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment and data;
  • Work with the help desk assistant to facilitate exchange of information and advice;
  • Implement solutions or notify outsource providers/Consultants as required
Managing Hardware/Software
  • Makes hardware and software acquisition recommendations including helping users assess needs and providing justification for equipment and services
  • Assists with the planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems;
  • Maintain current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommend modifications as necessary
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest methods of optimizing IT resources and assist in cost saving
  • Carry out regular Preventive Maintenance of the corporate-wide IT assets
  • Ensure regular updates of software and drivers are carried out
  • Keep the IT assets in top performance
Staff assistance and Training
  • Assist in instructing Corporate staff in the use of standard software, including word processing, spreadsheets and database management;
  • Provide instruction or written documentation where required
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
Solution Development and Delivery
  • Understands technical and functional design requirements.
  • Assists in physical and logical database design.
  • Creates prototypes for the solutions.
  • Designs, codes, and tests technical solutions.
  • Identifies system deficiencies and recommends solutions.

  • Works as a standalone environment as well as with a team.
  • Assists in enforcement of development deadlines and schedules.
  • Understands the necessity of and contributes to coding standards.
  • Develops objectives and agendas.
  • Prioritizes multiple tasks effectively.

  • Accurately prepares written business correspondence that is coherent, grammatically correct, effective, professional and engaging.
Relational Databases
  • Understands advanced relational database concepts.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with physical and logical database design.
  • Writes effective stored procedures.
  • Possesses demonstrated work experience with at least one relational database management system.
Programming Languages
  • Demonstrates proficiency in at least one structured programming language.
  • Creates effective XSL stylesheets.
  • Reads and understands XML schemas.
  • Proficiency with Content Management Systems like Joomla etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of PHP, VBScript, JavaScript
Architecture
  • Understands client server and internet systems architectures.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with object and component methodology and technology.
  • Identifies appropriate use of COM objects
Experience:
  • 3+ years experience in designing, managing, repairing IT equipment and Networks in a busy environment. 
  • Ability to work in multiple shifts and under extreme deadline pressure
Skills and Certification:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer science
  • Certifications – CCNA, MCSE, RHCT
  • Capability to fully repair IT equipment in-house
  • Excellent communication and data analysis skills
