Job Title: Child Protection Team Leader

Vacancies: 6 Positions

Reporting to: Child Protection Project Manager

Duty station: Alinjugur, Garissa County

Contract duration: 12 months (with 3-month probation period)

Main responsibilities:
  • To be responsible, under the supervision of the Child Protection Project Manager, for all aspects of the implementation of the Child Protection Management system in Kambi oos refugee camp.
  • To manage, supervise and train a team of social workers.
  • To coordinate with the Project Psychosocial counsellor and the livelihood project officer to ensure regular assessment of community project needs and impacts, and adequate follow up of extremely vulnerable cases.
  • To develop proper protection strategy for separated and unaccompanied children.
  • To develop collaboration with the local authorities such as other partners and services in the camp in order to establish a proper child protection referral system.
  • To participate in the primary school teachers CP capacity building.
Requirements:
  • Minimum diploma-level education in related field (child protection, sociology..).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in projects supporting children (social work, child protection, psychosocial, education, etc.)
  • Team management experience (6 subordinates).
  • Project reporting and evaluation experience.
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili. Ability to communicate in local dialect is an asset.
  • Willingness to live in Alinjungur.

Main responsibilities:
  • To be responsible, under the supervision of the Child Protection Project Manager, for all aspects of the implementation of the ECD support to families of malnourished children, targeted by Tdh Child Protection project in rural divisions of Lagdera district.
  • To train Tdh social worker, government children’s volunteers, health workers and primary school teachers on ECD practices.
  • To support Tdh Social workers and Government Children’s Volunteers in the follow-up of the beneficiaries to strengthen car givers psychosocial capacities.
  • To develop collaboration with the local authorities such as the District Children Officer, other partners and services in recognise the ECD activity as a relevant support to contribute to the recovery of malnourished children.
  • To develop report and analysis of the ECD activities’ impact
Requirements:
  • Minimum diploma-level education in Early Childhood Development
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Education or Child Protection projects with an ECD component
  • Project reporting and evaluation experience.
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili. Ability to communicate in local dialect is an asset.
  • Willingness to live at village level (Modogashe).

  • To support Tdh Social workers in the follow-up of the beneficiaries to strengthen the health and sanitation conditions of children and families supported by the CP project and the referral to health facilities.
  • To participate in the referral mechanism mapping and build collaboration with health partners
  • To coordinate with the Project Psychosocial counsellor and Child Protection team leaders to ensure regular assessment of community project impacts, and adequate support for most vulnerable families.
  • To build capacities of girls teenagers on health related issues.
Requirements:
  • Minimum diploma-level in Nursing or community health.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in projects supporting children
  • Experience as a trainer in related activities
  • Project reporting and evaluation experience.
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili. Ability to communicate in local dialect is an asset.
  • Willingness to live in Alinjungur.
