(SPM)

This is a Senior Management position reporting directly to the Managing Director of Acorn Management Limited.

The position provides oversight of all project management functions on several large scale projects. The SPM will lead an internal team of Project Managers and Assistants and provide leadership and strategic direction to a large multi-disciplinary project team of experienced and highly regarded Architects, Engineers, Contractors, Lawyers, Marketing Agents and Financiers.

Qualifications
:

The ideal candidate will hold an Undergraduate Degree (with Honours) in Project or Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Building Economics or related fields and have at least 5 years post graduate experience in a busy commercial environment.

A Masters Degree in a Construction related field would be an added advantage.

The candidate must demonstrate a proven track record of managing construction or engineering projects and an ability to manage a team of highly experienced professionals.

The successful candidates must be computer literate, possess excellent communication, analytical,
negotiating, planning and leadership skills and must be fluent in English. Knowledge or exposure to PRINCE II Project Management Methodology will be an advantage.

Project Managers


This is a Middle Level Management position reporting to a Senior Project Manager.

The position provides oversight of key management functions on single large, or several medium-sized projects.

The Project Manager will work with Project Management Assistants and provide leadership for project teams.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will hold an Undergraduate Degree (with Honours) in Project or Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Building Economics or related fields and have at least 3 years post graduate experience in a busy commercial environment.

The candidate should demonstrate a track record in managing medium-sized construction projects.

The successful candidates must be computer literate, possess excellent communication, analytical,
negotiating, planning and leadership skills and must be fluent in English.

Project Management Assistants/Trainees


This is an entry level position leading to a career in Project Management and Real estate Development.

The position provides management support to Senior Project Managers and Project Managers.

Qualifications:

Community Development Facilitator

Reports to

Duties And Responsibilities

The Community Development Facilitator will be responsible to the Team Leader and will supervise the implementation of all community development interventions and programs in the village.

More specifically he/she will perform the following:
  • Liaise with sector specific facilitators to facilitate community trainings, Coordination, sensitization and mobilization of parents/community to participate in development activities while enhancing community contributions,
  • Facilitate the planning and implementation of development interventions through capacity building of various structure of the community already established,
  • Promote participatory monitoring and evaluation processes within the community,
  • Supervise enumerators on carrying out socio economic surveys,
  • Promote collaboration, communication and cooperation with government ministries and other stakeholders and actors in the community,
  • Ensure accurate and timely production of monthly, quarterly and annual planning and budgeting for planned project activities with the community,
  • Facilitate development of community action in liaison with various sectors,
  • Facilitate conflict resolutions among the communities and ensure peace and coexistence structures are reinforced,
  • Oversee promotion and adoption of community learning resource centers in the
  • villages.
  • Facilitate registration of the community recognized institutions through the DSDO
Skills and Credentials

Duties and Responsibilities

The Education Facilitator will be responsible to the Team Leader and will supervise
the implementation of all education interventions and programs in the village. More
specifically he/she will perform the following:
  • Sensitization and mobilization of parents/community to participate in education development.
  • Organize and facilitate appropriate training programs for the community and the School Management Committees in participating in the program,
  • Facilitate the planning and implementation of education interventions including formal and alternative basic education e.g. mobile schools,
  • Facilitate monitoring and evaluation of education activities, in conjunction with ministry of education and other stakeholders,
  • Provide the necessary technical support to community based committees so as to strengthen the overall educational performance of the project,
  • Identify relevant educational interventions with the community and facilitate their full participation towards project ownership,
  • Promote high level collaboration, communication and co-operation with government ministries and other stakeholders and actors in the community,
  • Document activity progress on regular basis,
  • Make timely monthly planning and budgeting for activities.
Skills And Credentials

Community Health Worker Manager

Reports to: Cluster Team Leader
Duty Station: Dertu
Contract Period: One year, renewable

Duties and Responsibilities

The community health worker manager is responsible to the team leader and will supervisor the implementation of the community health programs in the village. More specifically he/she will perform the following:
  • Hold weekly meetingswith Community Health Workers (CHW), weekly and monthly reports compiling public health data and work closely with the Database Manager.
  • Identify actionable items on weekly reports and design timely interventions to improve the health of the community, based on incoming data. If death is reported, perform verbal autopsy.
  • Fill out monthly reports compiling public health data received from Community Health
  • Workers to send to Health Coordinator, CHW East Africa Coordinator.
  • Ensure operations tools evolve with the needs of the Dertu site.
  • Collect data monthly from CHV-Community Health Veterinary, Coordinators.
  • Lead CHW manual revisions by providing feedback to the health coordinator.
  • Liaise with the m-Health team on CHW trainings on mobile phone usage.
  • Community Health Worker Evaluations and Certifications; Conduct regular field evaluations of CHWs
  • Lead and maintain an on-going certification process for Community Health Workers.
  • Lead Community Focus Groups every quarter to evaluate specific Community Health Workers.
  • CHW Program Management; Organize and supervise the work of CHVs
  • Maintain and update the CHW Register.
  • Monitor and supervise CHW use of data/operations tools and Provide general support for health team initiatives.
Skills and Credentials
  • A registered nurse or public health technician or clinical officer or related subject, and or advanced management qualifications or equivalent experience in public health and health administration.
  • Knowledge of epidemiology an added advantage
  • At least three (3) years relevant experience in supervisory role or in health care with a development-oriented NGO

Health Facility Nurse

Reports to:

Duties and Responsibilities

Health Facility Nurse will be responsible to the project health coordinator and will be in charge of a health post. More specifically he/she will perform the following:
  • Provision of focused antenatal care to pregnant mothers,
  • Provision of PMTC services in accordance with ministry of health guidelines,
  • Practice of integrated management of childhood illness including conduction of routine and campaign immunization and education of families on IMCI,
  • Provision of primary care services for the older children and adults,
  • Conducting mobile clinics into the community,
  • Conducting normal delivery including taking night calls,
  • Participate in all relevant clinical research,
  • Prepare comprehensive summaries and reports of the facilities and mobile clinic activities.

Lutheran World Federation/Department for World Service Kenya Program is seeking to recruit Kenyan nationals for the following positions to be based in Dadaab Refugee Camp.

Accountability and Program Quality Assurance Officer

Reporting to the Area Coordinator, He/she will be responsible for leading the mainstreaming of LWF/DWS accountability system at the camp level in line with the LWF global and Regional policy documents and coordinate with the Camp Managers to establish the complaint and feedback mechanism.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • To lead in the adoption and application of LWF/DWS and ACT Alliance policies, guidelines and action plans for accountability to Disaster Affected Persons (DAPs) in LWF/DWS operations in Dadaab
  • To facilitate the strengthening of the Complaints and Response Systems in all sectors and components of the LWF/DWS operations in Dadaab refugee camps
  • To receive complaints (verbal and written) from focus groups and to channel them to relevant offices and staff for redress and feedback
  • To maintain a file containing situation reports and updates, human interest stories, photographs and other reports as may be requested for purposes of communicating and documenting LWF/DWS accountability efforts and results
  • Work with the Sector heads to provide Weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and graphic feedback to management of standard indicators for all sectors.
  • Support the implementation of LWF/DWS global M&E framework, LWF Kenya/Djibouti strategic framework, and the M&E Plans across the project.
  • Identify needs that each project has to support implementation of M&E activities, provide mentoring training to teams in the field locations
  • Assess beneficiary accountability mechanisms in place and lead strengthening of such mechanisms including through appropriately structure dissemination of M&E findings
  • Stakeholder Accountability- Ensure a summary presentation of all evaluations undertaken is prepared and rolled out in the project as appropriate and the process documented.
Professional qualifications and personal attributes
  • Advanced University degree in Law, Education, Human Rights, Disaster Response and Management or a protection related field. Professional training as a trainer, teaching or quality and standards control would be ideal.
  • Excellent, planning, analysis, and training design and facilitation skills;
  • Strong inter-cultural and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet
  • Relevant Experience: More than Four years experience in setting up and/or managing accountability, protection or capacity building projects in refugee or internally displaced person (IDP) settings in a reputable international NGO.

Camp Information Officer

Reporting to the Snr. Information Officer

Duties and responsibilities:
  • He /she will have regular visits to the field to collect data, analyzing the data and disseminating the information to the community, implementing partners and the donor Agency
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of messaging committees with cluster committees within the camps.
  • Compile compelling database of human interest stories, photography and short video on the work of LWF in the camp
  • Prepare training manuals for induction of new arrivals to inform them of the processes and conduct during the registration
  • Work with refugee staff attach to the sector in conceptualizing and designing of information education and communications material to be used for community communication
  • He will share information, give feed back and share gaps noticed at camp level in the coordination meetings
  • He will support the Camp Field Officer to organize annual events like World Aids day, World refugee day, International day of peace among others.
  • Responsible in observing sound and cost-effective operational standards and procedures in transport, stores, procurement, communications and security at the camp level.
  • Responsible for supervising and motivating camp-based refugee staff in accordance with LWF policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Responsible for ensuring all LWF staff observe the highest standards of the Code of Conduct for humanitarian workers, refugee protection and prevention of sexual abuse and exploitation of beneficiaries.
Professional qualifications and relevant experience
  • Undergraduate degree in Communication, Information Sciences, Journalism, Media studies or Public Relations
  • At least 2 years of progressive experience in humanitarian program management, preferably in refugee settings. Experience gained in data management and DTP platforms is an added advantage.
  • Strong representation, negotiation and coordination experience gained from working with UN organizations, national and international NGOs.
  • Working knowledge and experience of humanitarian principles, SPHERE and UNHCR standards and field security protocols and procedures.
  • Excellent computer skills in Photography, videography, word processing, spreadsheets, use of internet and email.
  • Experience in training, facilitation and capacity building
