World Concern Development Organization wishes to recruit a qualified and competent person for the following position.

Job Title: Human Resources Assistant

Location: Garisa

Contract length: Short term with possibility of extension

Main Responsibilities include:
 
  • Coordination and creation of orientation schedules for new staff/interns
  • Draft routine correspondence and initiate process for the preparation of all staff support documentation (visas, identification cards, bank accounts etc.)
  • Prepare periodic HR reports and planning projections for submission to Nairobi office
  • Ensure maintenance of an effective, efficient and up to date staff records and filing system including contracts, leave, medical, awards, discipline, archiving
  • Check and maintain personnel files for all staff, ensuring all documentation is complete; maintain confidential personnel information
  • Organize all applications, reference checking and recommendations for employment including candidates documentation
  • Respond to routine/records human resource queries from staff
  • Assist with the development, communication and implementation of staff policies and procedures, including the employee manual, employee contracts and other related documents
  • Create and monthly distribute time sheets to all staff
  • Organize the establishment of consistent maintenance of personnel records and archiving both electronically and manually
  • Ensure that all staff receive internal circulars and newsletters
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned

Employment Standards

Minimum skills, education and experience required:
  • Bachelors Degree in a related field and a diploma in Human Resource management. Higher Diploma in HR with significant field experience may also be considered.
  • 2-3 years experience in Human Resource field in a humanitarian organization
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point, Access etc.
  • Understanding of the relevant laws and statutory requirements Ability to work quickly under pressure and independently
  • Flexible working style, being able to adapt to needs and demands without difficulty, strong ability to multi-task and attention to detail is a MUST
  • Demonstrates servant leadership, compassion, integrity and the ability to address and resolve conflicts
  • Excellent command of written and spoken languages – English and Kiswahili
  • Wide knowledge of the NGO operations and the dynamics of the humanitarian sector

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the person will be responsible for preparation and maintenance of complete and accurate financial accounts and reports for management decision making.

Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Prepare monthly financial accounts on Profit & Loss, Balance sheet and Cash flow statement;Ensure proper books of account are kept for the company;
  • Ensure Supplier account reconciliations are prepared monthly;
  • Establish credit control policies, customer database and supervise the collection exercise;
  • Financial Modeling in terms of Budgeting and reporting;
  • Lead the Oracle integration and migration process;
  • Ensure Tax compliance in all the operations of the company;

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Commerce degree from a recognized university with a CPA(K) certification or the equivalent;
  • 5 Years experience in finance in preparation of tax returns, financial analysis, information database management and reporting, cost accounting, variance analysis, Management accounting, Forecasting and Budgeting;
  • Experience with Kenyan Tax Legislation;
  • Proficient in MS Office and Oracle Financials;

The job holder will also manage digital media initiatives, and ensure seamless and effective execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day planning, development, execution and measurement of digital platform strategies and activities;
  • Management of Safaricom's digital assets including the corporate website, social sites, other micro sites that may be created from time to time;
  • Assess the effectiveness of all digital media efforts through tracking, analyzing and comprehensive reporting;
  • Coordinate integration of social media elements into existing and new Digital infrastructure;
  • Develop, implement and monitor effective SEO strategy to drive up natural listing indexing;
  • Management of brand mentions on digital media platforms, ensuring that any negative mentions are proactively managed;

  • Analyze digital engagement activities and build in recommendations and plans for enhancing future activities;
  • Champion social media within the organization through evangelism, training and support;

Minimum requirements
  • A degree in Marketing, Communications, IT or any business related field;
  • A marketing or communications certification will be an added advantage;
  • 2-3 years experience ideally gained in a Digital Marketing Company, digital agency or blue chip organization responsible for digital & social media;
  • High performance and results oriented;
  • Excellent team player with good management skills experience;
  • Excellent Negotiation, Influencing and Presentation skills;
