  • Have a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Accounting/Marketing /Finance option) or a degree in Co-operative Management with CPA III or its equivalent in Credit Management (KASNEB) and 3 years experience as loans officer I.

Job Description

  • Maintain records of members’ loan application and approvals;
  • Ensure that loan forms are accompanied by all supporting documents;
  • Designing and implementing lending strategies and polices of credit function;
  • Advise the SACCO management on amount of loan to be recovered from each member’s expenses;
  • Promptly and effectively resolve all enquiries regarding customer loans;
  • Attend to any member with any urgent matter or complaint relating to loans and where necessary, forward recommendations to the SACCO manager;
  • Scrutinize loan application forms and agreements to ensure that they give accurate information and other particulars necessary for the credit committee meeting;
  • Ensure adequate supply of loan stationery;
  • Establish reasons for defaulting and provide remedial action where possible;
  • Send out demand notices to defaulting loanees;
  • Advise management on loan delinquency and remedial action;
  • Visit defaulting members to recover amounts defaulted;
  • Attend credit committee meetings when required.

Job Description

  • Reporting to the Resident Engineer.
  • To provide supervision services for effective implementation of Electrical and Mechanical Installations.
  • Review available electrical/mechanical installation design for the purpose of understanding the design.
  • Provide design details as required for implementation of electrical/mechanical works.
  • Review electrical/mechanical design works/proposals from the contractor for approval.
  • To liaise with sub-contractors, contractors and stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective performance of electrical/mechanical works installation with minimum interference to operations in neighbourhood.
  • Undertake project supervision as per plan and specifications of the works.
  • Ensure quality assurance measures are followed for compliance with set standards and specifications of the electrical/mechanical works.
  • Maintain records of the electrical/mechanical works project cycle at all stages from inception to the end.
  • To ensure post-contract period management/supervision services and to ascertain that warrantees have been provided and the completed facilities meet operational targets/requirements.
  • Ensure the contractor produces accurate As-built drawings for electrical/mechanical installation works.

Qualifications

  • B.SC Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent form recognised University.
  • Minimum of 10 years working experiences with at least 5 years in high rise buildings.
  • Be a Registered Engineer with an internationally recognised institution.
  • Possession of current Practice License from Professional Body.
  • Good Interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in AUTOCAD, ARCHCAD.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, and other word processing packages.

  • Review available project documents and drawings for the purposes of understanding the design.

  • Issue all the necessary instruction to the Contractor(s), check and control the work to ensure that it is carried out in accordance with Contract requirements.
  • Provide general guidance to Contractor(s) as may be necessary to ensure that the works are carried out expeditiously according to the agreed schedule and within the terms of Contract(s).
  • During the execution of the works carry out inspections of all work areas and installations.
  • Receive certificates from Contractor(s), check and approve all material required to ensure compliance.
  • Ascertain and agree with the Contractor(s) measurements and payment claims and certify in consultation with Project Manager for proper execution, completion and commissioning of the works and building management system.
  • Prepare and submit to the Project Manager:

  1. Monthly Progress Reports.
  2. Quarterly Reports.
  3. Technical Reports as necessary.
  4. Final Completion Reports and Maintenance Manuals.

  • Conduct post construction Inspections and follow up action during Defects Liability Period including preparation of preventative maintenance system for the buildings.
  • Issue a Defects Liability Certificate upon completion of the Defects Liability Period to enable release of Performance Bonds.
  • Prepare and submit final As-Built Drawings, Maintenance and Preventative Maintenance Schedules.
  • To advise MUPS on all matters relating to claims, from the Contractor and to make recommendations thereon, including the possible recourse to arbitration.

Qualifications

  • B.SC in Civil Engineering. Postgraduate degree in Structural Engineering/Project Management added advantage.
  • Registered Engineer with an internationally recognized Institution.
  • Possession of Current Practice License from Professional Body.
  • A minimum of 15 years professional experience with 10 years on relevant Project Management/Supervision of Projects of similar nature, magnitude and complexity. (High rise Buildings, 15 storeys and above).

  • Reporting to the Resident Engineer.
  • To check and control the work to ensure that it is carried out in accordance with the Contract requirements.
  • Review available project documents and drawings for the purpose of understanding the design.
  • Provide design details as required for implementation of the works.
  • Provide general guidance to contractors as may be necessary to ensure that the works are carried out expeditiously according to the agreed schedule and within the terms of Contract(s).
  • During the execution of the works carry out Inspections of all work areas and installations.
  • Receive certificates from Contractor(s), check all material required to ensure compliance for approval.
  • Record the results of work measurements carried out for payment of provisional and final quantities on the proper forms normally used in Kenya or as agreed with MUPS/Project Manager for proper execution, completion and commissioning of the works and building management system.
  • Assist the Resident Engineer in preparation of:

  1. Monthly Progress Reports.

  3. Technical Reports as necessary.

Pwani University is located 60 Km north of Mombasa ¡n Kilifi Town off the Mombasa - Malindi Road, within Kilifi County. 


The University, formerly a constituent college of Kenyatta University was awarded a Charter making it a fully fledged university by H.E. the President Mwai Kibaki on 31st January 2013. 


The mission of the university ¡s to generate, disseminate and apply knowledge while sustaining excellence in teaching, learning and research.


The University occupies over 500 acres of land part of which is the university farm. Currently, the institution has four schools/faculties and 13 teaching departments with a total of approximately 5,000 students, including 98 masters students and 45 PhD students, as well as 400 staff members.

Duties and Responsibilities


The Vice Chancellor will be the Chief Executive Officer of the University and will be responsible for implementation of the Council’s resolutions.


The successful candidate will:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the University and represent the University nationally, regionally and internationally;
  • Be the academic and administrative head of the University;
  • Have overall responsibility on the direction, organization and the administration of programs of the University;
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of the academic and administrative policies of the University in accordance with the
  • University’s master plan and the strategic plan;
  • Maintain efficiency and harmony of the University and ensure enforcement of the statutes and regulations;
  • Provide innovative and creative leadership in the areas of Academics, Finance, Planning and Development; general administration;
  • research and partnerships.
  • Play a key role ¡n the facilitation and maintenance of linkages with government/regulatory agencies and other local/international institutions of higher learning;

Requirements


Applicants should meet the following requirements:-

  • Be a holder of an earned PhD from a reputable university at the level ofa full professor;
  • Have at least ten (1 0) years of academic and research experience in a senior leadership role in an academic institution or research organization.
  • Should have served substantively with demonstrable results at least as a Principal of a Constituent University College or as a Deputy Vice Chancellor of a university, or in other similar institutions at comparable levels;
  • Should have published in internationally recognized peer reviewed journals in their areas of specialization.
  • Have some understanding of government financial and fiscal policies, strategic planning and vision 2030, human resource management, procurement and asset disposal legal requirements;
  • Have excellent understanding of the current trends in university education and training in Kenya and globally and a broad awareness of the factors and conditions shaping the development of university education in Kenya;
  • Be a leader with potential to plan, develop and implement academic programs and develop strategic institutional linkages;
  • Must demonstrate effective communication, persuasive and interpersonal skills, as well as strategic, logical, sound decision making ability.
  • Have an understanding of the importance of networking, fundraising and resource mobilization ¡n the development of the university.
  • Be of the highest ethical standards, integrity, accountability and professionalism, teamwork and good stewardship and comply with the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
