Feed The Children - Kenya is seeking to recruit the position of HIV/AIDS Program Coordinator

This is a one year renewable contract.  

Based in Nairobi with occasional travel to the field, the incumbent will report to the Head of Programs and will provide strategic leadership and technical support in all aspects of HIV/AIDS related programming for the Kenya Country program.

Key responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and management support for all HIV/AIDS program
  • Providing technical support in the development of effective HIV/AIDS program
  • Support programming for HIV/AIDS interventions.
  • Development and implementation of a country HIV/AIDS strategy in line with FTC Kenya Country Program strategy.
  • Assessing and enhancing the capacity of local partners implementing HIV/AIDS projects.
  • Participate in Monitoring and Evaluation of HIV/AIDS program.
  • Management, coordination, and reporting of HIV/AIDS related Grants.
  • Work in close collaboration with frontline staff and provide oversight in preparation of proposals.
  • Facilitate learning and sharing of Best Practices in HIV/AIDS programming.
  • Maintain contacts with donors and partners to increase funding for the HIV/AIDs program
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Degree in Public Health (Masters will be an added advantage).
  • Minimum five years experience in HIV/AIDS programming
  • Demonstrated capacity to understand and advise on critical issues related to HIV/AIDS; Prevention, care, treatment and support to OVCs and PLHIVs.
  • Experience in building and maintaining strategic relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong representational skills, including ability to present FTC programs and policies to diverse audiences, including donors, the Government and other key stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing ability, including previous experience developing successful proposals for US Government funding.
  • Proven experience in grants management and reporting. Experience with USAID-funded program a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in program design, development, and implementation
  • Hands on experience in Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Very strong communication skills, both oral and written.

ICTJ is seeking a Finance and Administration Manager for its Kenya Office. 

This position will be based in Nairobi and on a 2-year contract with possibility of extension, depending on performance and availability of funding.

Responsibilities:

The Finance and Administration Manager will:
  • Oversee all financial and administrative aspects of ICTJ’s activities in Kenya in collaboration with the Head of Kenya Office, Africa finance and grants associate, and Finance and Human Resources departments at the head office.
  • Develop annual and monthly operating budgets, follow-up on financial transactions and prepare monthly financial reports.
  • Prepare expense reports, record and reconcile all payments and receipts.
  • Prepare requests for funds/claims for submission to the head office.
  • Prepare periodic and final financial reports for expenditure of grants and donations.
  • Oversee the purchase and maintenance of office equipments.
  • Oversee all logistical requirements to support programs of the Kenya office including coordination of travel arrangements.
  • Support the Head of Office and Programmes staff to prepare budgets and estimates for fundraising proposals.
  • Oversee office compliance with legal and administrative requirements including regular liaison with auditors and legal advisors.
  • Oversee ICTJ Kenya office’s adherence to ICTJ administrative and financial policies.
  • Perform other duties as necessary and required.
Qualifications:

The Finance and Administration Manager will possess the following qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration or Commerce.
  • Part or full Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualifications.
  • Qualification in Human Resources management will be a desirable, in addition to business administration or commerce, and part or full CPA qualification.
  • Computer literate; proficient in MS Office Applications and Pastel.
  • Minimum of five years relevant work experience, including experience in budget oversight for programs and grants from varied Embassies, foundations or other donors.
  • Basic knowledge of project management.
  • Strong background in working with civil society organisations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in an intensive and fast-paced work environment, and with a wide range of partners.

 The ICRISAT Regional Office for Eastern and Southern Africa is hosted at the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) campus in Nairobi, Kenya and is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Research Associate.

About the position

The Research Associate will be responsible for providing technical support to the Principal Scientist (Economics) through the Director (ESA Regional Office), plan and execute work consistent with the agreed framework and periodical report to stakeholders.  

The Associate will also facilitate key review meetings and develop future actions to meet set objectives, analyze project results and draw appropriate conclusions on research ideas and publish results in scientific journals for the purpose of dissemination to targeted groups.

Duties and responsibilities will include
  • Develop questionnaires for data capture and implement data collection
  • Plan, run and supervise household and market surveys in Eastern and Southern Africa, (Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda and Malawi)
  • Data management, including archiving of data and reports
  • Run statistical/econometric analyses
  • Draft reports and scientific papers using results of statistical/econometric analyses
  • Proof-read and correction of reports and scientific papers based on input from the Principal Scientist
  • Support the Principal Scientist in fundraising efforts (proposal writing)
  • Provide other scientific and administrative support as required from time to time by the Principal Scientist.
Requirements
  • First degree in Agriculture
  • An MSc degree in Agricultural Economics or Agriculture
  • 5 – 10 years working experience
  • A minimum of 2 years research experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
  • Time management - ability to schedule tasks to meet tight deadlines
  • Teamwork- ability to work in partnerships with others
  • Originality, creativity and innovation – capacity for original thought
  • Judgment – ability to make sound decisions
  • Tenacity – persistence in ensuring delivery of agreed contributions
  • Analytical skills – sound analysis and interpretation of technical issues.
  • Must be a Kenyan national.
