Requirements

Safety Officer

The Safety Officer will be responsible to the Project Manager.
 
Responsibilities
  • Preparing and ensuring implementation of health and safety strategies and developing internal policies.
  • Implementing the company Health and Safety Procedures and developing local work procedures to comply with legal obligations.
  • Carrying out job safety analyses and considering how risks can be reduced or eliminated.
  • Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented and are working well.
  • Overseeing safety audits and keeping records of inspections’ findings and producing reports that suggest improvements.
  • Ensuring that staff are inducted according to the Safety Procedure.
  • Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all environmental, health and safety legislation and any developments in the industry, and liaising with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance.
  • Maintaining a system for recording, reporting and investigating injuries, accidents and dangerous occurrences in the site.
  • Providing regular statistical summaries to Management and drawing attention to significant trends and occurrences.
Requirements
  • Degree in Environmental Sciences.
  • Professional Certification in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Proven record of at least 7 years HSE experience in a reputable organisation.
  • Flexibility to varying working hours.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • A mature individual with high level of discretion and unquestionable integrity.
Foremen (Concrete/Steel Fixing Shuttering)

IFA is a rapidly expanding organization that is creating the new posts of Head of Research to manage and process the unique material gathered in the field, and Head of Production to increase the quality and quantity of products.
 
Head of Research
 
Job Description
  • To create, implement, evaluate and develop the strategy for research and report writing
  • Implement the highest standards of accuracy, analysis and presentation
  • Design and develop written products and reports, including for national and international publication
  • Develop effective systems for recording and retrieving information, including managing and expanding existing archiving systems in hard and soft copy
  • Work closely with all departments to monitor the progress of information gathering, content output and impact against agreed benchmarks.
  • Lead and manage research and information gathering, including for fund-raising and fund-raising reports.
  • Ability to understand social justice and donor needs
  • Ensure IFA remains at the forefront of human rights and social justice research, and keep up to date with developments nationally and internationally, introducing new concepts and techniques as relevant
  • Have a clear understanding of Information Laws and take a lead on strategy for compliance and protection
  • Ability and experience in designing and implementing systems and procedures of archiving and retrieval, working closely with the Production and IT departments

Head of Production

Job Description
  • Oversee production of films, video and web clips.
  • Drawing up production schedules, suitable for field programmes and public distribution.
  • Designing products according to the organisational vision and standards, including for film festivals, mainstream media and website
  • Setting and monitoring high standards, implementing quality control, and ensuring products are appropriately targeted
  • Ensuring that filming and journalism is carried out according to organisational, ethical and security principles.
  • Ensure that equipment is properly handled and maintained
  • Ability to understand social justice and donor needs and adapt the service where necessary.
Qualifications and experience
  • Bachelor Degree, fluent in English and Swahili.
  • 5 years experience in film-making, competitive journalism and production.
  • Excellent writing, story and analysis skills.
  • Proven interest in human rights, and ability to use media imaginatively and informatively in accessible and aspiring ways to promote and incorporate a social justice vision.
  • Portfolio of news and documentary products
  • Planning and leadership skills

  • Good computer skills, including familiarity with office suites, editing software, e-mail and calendar software

HIV & AIDS Prevention Program Assistant

Job Summary
The job entails training tutors and providing technical support in aspects of integration of HIV&AIDS messages in the classroom processes; behaviour change promotion activities; outreach events; development of ICT-based HIV&AIDSIEC Materials for TTCs and teaching practice schools, and monitoring and evaluation..
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative and programmatic support to Teacher Training Colleges and Teaching Practice Schools to mainstream and conduct successful outreach events and other HIV&AIDS behaviour change promotion activities including Community Health Week and “Say NO to HIV&AIDS Stigma” Advocacy Campaigns.
  • Support the establishment and coordination of Youth Friendly Center Services in colleges including Peer Education, HIV Testing and Counselling services.
  • Participate in documentation of HIV&AIDS prevention activities including success stories for publications.
  • Review and ensure timely submission of quality monthly and quarterly reports from TTCs and teaching practice schools; reporting progress, accomplishments or potential setbacks to HIV&AIDS Prevention Program activities.
  • Support other TEPD Program activities as may be required from time to time.
Minimum Requirements:
University degree in any of the following fields: Education, Social Work, Sociology, Community Health, Public Health, Counseling Psychology, or any other related field with a bias in education or experience in educational programmes with at least 3 years’ practical and progressive managerial experience in HIV&AIDS Prevention Programme targeting youth in a busy environment. 

Experience working with USAID-funded PEPFAR Programs or other-donor funded projects will be desirable. Experience in Teacher Education will be an added advantage. Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite. Excellent writing, good organization and communication skills. 

Strong problem solving, analytical and organizational skills with a flexible approach to managing and prioritizing a heavy workload and multiple tasks to meet deadlines in a multi-cultural work environment. Good leadership skills with a supportive, consultative management style.
